France 44 Wine & Spirits

Hi, my name is Matt Fisher and I'm the beer specialist here at France 44. Were really happy to provide the very unique beer that went into today's dishes, but I'm here to prove that beer can replace wine at the dinner table. Let me show you how. The first beer we have today is Rush Rivers Unforgiven Amber Ale from River Falls, Wisconsin, about 30 minutes outside of the Twin Cities. It's a really unique beer in the fact that their very carmel-y bread-y flavors, almost Next off, we have a local powerhouse, the Surly Furious. Big, bright, citrusy grapefruit flavors from the hops and a big, multi-backbone give this beer a wonderful balance. A lot of people think beer in a can is a bad idea, but actually it's the best format for beer. Light and heat are the two main things that will kill a beer off quickly. Surly putting their beer only in cans allows for a beer as it's constantly cold to maintain perfect properties that it was brewed with. Last up, we have the Rodenbach Flemish Grand Crew from Belgi This is a bottle-fermented beer. Notice the cork in the cap, meaning it's re-fermented in the bottle with Belgian candied sugars. This is a beer that's been blended between old beers and new beers to give wonderfully complex flavors between lightly tart and lightly sweet. It's delicate enough to pair up with lobster or shellfish, but it's fantastic by itself. If you're feeling adventurous next time you're in the store, try it instead of a sparkling wine.
