The art of craft brewing is growing, and with it, the desire to brew and sample the great variety of beer that has been scarce or non existent in this state. Home brewing is a relatively inexpensive hobby that opens the door to all the beers of the world. Learning how to brew or make wine is easier than you might think, and it can be the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys making things, needs a good hobby, or just likes a good drink with friends.
Bobby T. the beer professor right here at Salt City Brew Supply in Midvale. Now that by itself is exciting enough but we also have the Utah Beer Festival coming up on Saturday August 15th. We'll talk a little more about that but right now I've got Cody who makes this thing run here. He gets the job done at Salt City. I buy most of my brew supplies here but Let me ask you Cody, tell me a little bit about Salt City. I don't know, I think if you ask the guys around here they'd probably object that I make the thing run. I probably am the last part of that puzzle. Nicely h Yes, yes. Well, Salt City Brew Supply, we're a home brew supply shop out here in Midvale There's really no limit to what you can ferment and really coming up right now in the fall we have lots of fruits coming into harvest. We can make all sorts of different fruit wines and ciders so that's a pretty exciting part of the season. So yes, it's always something new and exciting in the brew shop. Excellent. Now I know we're obviously here in Midvale but there is a new facility in the market. So last October we moved our shop from the clown car across the street over to this larger fancier, prettier shop so we could have more space to have more inventory. With the idea we would move a shop up into Ogden because Ogden's got a really robust brewing community and culture up there and we wanted to be a part of it. So we are in the process of opening a shop. We hope to be open no later than August 1st but these things keep getting pushed back but we'really excited about it. Again, in all seriousness, if you brew your own beer you need to come down here. These guys do a great job of helping you with the recipe, with any information that you need which I think keeps a lot of people from doing it and the first place they're not sure how to do it. This is a great place to learn how to do some of that. Now we've got the Utah Beer Festival coming up. You've been a partner for several years. Yeah, ever since our first year. So what anything we can expect this year that might be different? So we, I mean not different from us. We always, we sponsor the recycling program at the beer festival so we collect all the bottles that the brewers are pouring from because this is Utah they can't pour from the draft unfortunately for a lot of those beers. So we collect all those bottles and we take, give them back to the home brewers to reuse. So we'll take a sign up sheet and people want to get a nice case of bombers or sometimes there'some of the flip top bottles or whatever it is. Just come down and sign up at our booth and you can get some free bottles to put your own beer in.
