All right, if you're a vinyl enthusiast or just someone who appreciates good music and community vibes, you'll want to mark your calendar for May 31st. That's when a special record fair will be happening, bringing together collectors, music lovers and local vendors for a day of great digging and discovery. At the heart of it all is Hungry Ear Records and joining us now to share more as Operations Manager, Christian Wright. Thank you so much for being here. Appreciate it. I'm going to mess with you because I know you brought some stuff out here that you're probably too young to have even appreciated. But before we get into all of that, what is Hungry Ear Records? Tell me about t Hungry Ear Records is a record shop located at Salt Cacaco. We're located on the second floor and we sell records, cassettes, equipment to play records, CDs as well and our own merchandise. Not only that, we throw events and we love bringing people together to talk about music, to learn about music and just to galvanize around all t Awesome. And t I didn't even know, but t Yeah, so the store's existed since 1980 and has cycled through multiple owners. It eventually ended up in Kailua under the current owner, And now we're located at Salt in Cacaco. Tell me about the Hawaii Record Fair and what makes t Yeah, the Record Fair is going to feature a bunch of private sellers selling thousands of records. So usually these sellers don't have their own stores. Working at a record shop, I realize so many people have records just lying in their house and it's an opportunity for these people to sell their own records. And yeah, there's a market for it. So not only that, we have special raffle prizes. We have DJ spinning vinyl Our friends from Maxim Shout out. And it's going to be a fun event. Not only that, it's located in the barn at Salt and there's just great shops around and restaurants so it's going to be a fun Saturday. So that's going down Saturday, May 31st at Salt at our Cacaco. It starts at about what time? So the event starts at 9am, ends at 3pm. There's three tiers of admission. So from 9 to 10, we call that early bird admission for the series collectors, the people who want their hands to So that's going to cost $25. And then from 10 to 1pm, it's going to cost $5. That's just general admission. And then it's free for everybody after 1pm. So from 1 to 3, free. You've brought one of the best Hawaii alb Is this is actually so, I mean I do, I have it on Spotify now. It's existed since I forgot, I t So our friends over at Aloha Got Soul, another record store on the island located on King Street, check them out. They are also a record label and they pressed t And so with reissues, it made it widely available for the whole world, the entire world. You'll find that is so awesome. And so that is really cool. I'm going to mess with you for a second because t No, no. Do you even know what a mixed tape is? I've heard of it. I might know a t Oh my gosh, t For those of you that are young enough or that don't know, t I love t Man, you're bringing back some memories. Okay, so at the fair, you said that you guys have stuff to play this stuff Yeah, yeah. Okay, so t Let me just go show everybody here. T I know they have vinyl players that plug into USB. Do Yeah, so currently at the shop, we usually do carry a turntable that can hook up via USB. Sometimes we get used turntables that do that. Currently we have another suitcase model turntable that can stream from the turntable via Bluetooth. Bluetooth speakers. That's really cool. Even if you don't have speakers that have RCA inputs, you can still listen to records.
