The Rustic Barn

At the time were both fully employed, took a leap of faith. Was it going to stay in law enforcement or was it going to pursue our dream? I think we both knew in our hearts that were meant to do something For those of you who don't know us, I'm Lisa. And I'm Steve. And welcome to the Rustic Barn. Were at our little barn from, I would say June. We started it in June of 2015. It was shortly after the holiday season that we got word that this location was available. We couldn't pass it up. This is one of the prime locations here in Killingworth, Connecticut. When we first came to look at it, it was divided into two separate rental places and then decided, well, we need more space, so we actually took over the whole building. We took care of the interior renovations and we're just very thankful to be here. We sell home accessories, we sell lanterns, we sell candle pillars, we sell baskets, enamelware, handmade furniture. My experience is in retail and merchandising. I know we wouldn't be where we are today if Lisa didn't have that for staging, decorating. I've never seen anything I actually tried to stage the furniture area. Yeah, not too successful at all. So this is our furniture area. This is the room where Steve's work is showcased. Where the clients can come in, they see a piece that they So this gives me an area to kind of work with them where we pick out colors, different materials, different levels of distressing. We'd have a lot more furniture in this room if you would stop taking all the pieces that are making them place them in our house. And it's not just what's inside, it's just the overall feel of how everything is, people, and it's exactly what this community needs. I really wanted to create an environment, bringing people together and fostering the community. I'm very proud of that. Very proud of him. I love what he does. I just wish that he would do more of it in our own home.
