New Vintage USA

NVU - We design, manufacture, and assemble private label/OE and custom instruments clusters, gauges and panels to your specification

A LITTLE ABOUT US New Vintage began as most small businesses do, in the basement and garage, working late into the night on harebrain ideas. Our company began in the small town of Ferndale, Michigan which resides on the northern border of Detroit. We began retrofitting Porsche gauges for folks who had installed American V-8s in their 914s and 911s. This spilled over into the Hot rod and musclecar markets, building custom instruments for people all over the world. We found that we were constantly buying new gauges and making them look old. This was a trend we saw, builders and owners wanted to make sure their dash looked right for the theme of the car. Hot rods had hot rod gauges, Musclecars had 60s looking gauges that were beefed up, 30s cars had a deco look. While custom work is still a mainstay at New Vintage, we felt that we could offer a better value to our customers by creating instrument packages that were tailored to their type of vehicle. That is how we came up with the full line of period styled instruments. Over the years, we have rapidly grown to be a well respected instrumentation manufacturer known for design excellence and great value, all made in the USA. We pride ourselves in keeping as much as possible in Detroit. We have our molded parts, plating, screen printing and assembly all right here in town. While this may not be the most efficient way to do business, it does allow us to have excellent quality control and performance. We are often asked, why do your gauges look so much nicer than what is currently on the market? We are a design firm at heart. It’s the knowledge, talent and passion for design that really sets our line apart. Its more than someone who can use a computer, all of our designers have experience at the big three, interior, jewelry or fashion design. It's about proportion, detail, and theme, pulling inspiration from the era the gauges are designed for. This pool of talent that we have in Detroit is a great advantage; we have some of the best designers in the world, right here in town. Our main facility is in a recently renovated 1950s factory on the Detroit/Ferndale border. This facility offers us room for growth in an area centrally located to various specialty tool and fabrication shops which serve our needs. Our goal: to bring the highest style, most reliable instruments on the market with a cost that is reasonable and fair.

Hi, I'mark Sorrell. I'm from New Vintage and I'm here to take you through some of our product line, explain kind of what we do and how we've done to make it easier on you for your customers. We have, for popular models, we have mounting solutions that install our gauge kits in the factory location. They're just individual gauges that install, but this is really simplified the installation for the builder to get in the dash. This is our direct drive system. In the old days you would have to go power, ground, light, signal, power, ground, light, signal, etc. , etc. , build a whole harness, hopefully everything's good to go and then it would work. We've done away with all that. Basically, you wire the gauges up, the master gauges up by color, right as power, black is ground, white is lights, etc. Pick up your tax signal, oil pressure, temperature, fuel level and speed signal, plug them into the gauges, the minor gauges plug into the back of the master gauges and you're done. That's cut wiring time by 75%. So that'significantly reduced your time and the chance for error. The other exciting thing about this is we have a lot of our builders will keep these harnesses or these plugs in stock and what they'll do is they'll just build it into their harnesses, they're building the vehicle. Then when the customer decides what style they want, they can just get the gauges in and they're done. Really improves speed, quality and efficiency. Another great thing about our Phoenix technology is were the first ones over 10 years ago to roll out some of these features. We include indicators in all of the speedometers and tachometers. Our high contrast OLED screens feature all kinds of really cool things that if your customer wants to use they can. Total mileage, 0 to 60 times, additional inputs, quarter mile time, eighth mile time, shift indicators, all kinds of icons in there. They're in there if you want them but they don'take up the whole gauge. But really what we're good at is making the gauges look really cool. So we've got our Woodward series over here. This is a little bit more of a 30s, 40s, 50s look, really, really popular. For example, here's an 80 truck kit. This is one of our top sellers. 60s over here, late 60s GM, early 60s Ford and a Hot Rod 1940 series. This is our performance look, performance two. These are also very popular. Aviator, and if you really want to go over the top, we've got our series over here. This isn't for everybody but we have it. It's really popular. It really stands out on a high end, exciting build. And then we also have additional gauges that you can install if needed to monitor boost, EGT, oil temp, anything else you might need. So in a nutshell, that is what we do. It's a very easy modular system that you can create many, many different looks very, very easily for your customer.
