cool displays, cold brews and plenty of fun. Thousands are making their way to Cripple Creek for the 10th annual ice festival. And it's not only a treat for spectators, the city is seeing a big boom in visitors from all across our state because of the beautiful weather today. KERDIO News Channel 13's Mikaelia White was there and shows us how. With precision and dedication. I was trying to come up with something new every year. These sculptors come here year after year to entertain crowds of thousands. This is the most ice you're going to see anywhere in the state of Colorado. There will be over 500 blocks of ice, each one weighing 300 pounds, that are brought to the Cripple Creek. Many making a lengthy trek. We had to come to see, this is the first time we've been here. It's our second year here. We're just like coming up here and, Just to enjoy these works of art on East Bennett Avenue. So we're all carving a bunch of African themed ice sculptures. Sculptors say carving bees is the easiest part, but when it comes to the warmth and the wind, keeping them intact has been the hardest thing. We've had a little bit of problems the last couple of years. It's been so warm for February. So what we decided that they do is that they bring us half our ice the first week and half of our ice the second week. This weather proving to be a good thing in one area though, it draws even more visitors. Friendly people. Nice environment and it'sunny. Yeah, it could have been a better day to come up here and see what's going on. People who say they're eager to keep this tradition alive. Cripple Creek is such an awesome town to begin with.
