It all starts here with thousands of bottles waiting to be refilled. And every one of those bottles has to be washed. In just a few moments, hundreds of youth, dirty bottles are passed through the suds and come out sparkling clean. While the washing is in progress, the mixing is going on upstairs, all automatically. The dry sugar is automatically measured, then comes the liquid sweetener. This is our liquid control meter. It p We have a 6,000 gallon tank down there and we keep it heated at 88 degrees. Because, and also the line coming up to this meter has to be kept at that temperature because if not, it will crystallize and turn as hard as rock. By the way, this plant uses about 3,000 pounds of sugar, 500 gallons of corn sweetener and more than 500 gallons of water every day. Once the right mixture of ingredients is achieved, the tanks send their liquid down through the pipes into the tanks that cool and carbonate. And finally, it's into the bottle the soda pop goes, again, all automatically. These machines can fill about 350 bottles a minute, barring the occasional breakdown. From the filler, the bottles travel down the line to get carton and cased and then cart it away. All this work must make these people pretty thirsty. This is very handy.
