Canal Spirits Craft Distillery is owned and operated by distiller, Vinnie Carbone, of Massillon, OH. From Vinnie’s long-time passion for the arts and food, the idea arose to create a handcrafted, fine whiskey product line focused on, not only quality and taste, but the entire consumer experience. Customers purchasing directly find themselves walking into the past as they step inside our distillery. The operation is housed in the basement of the historic Brimstone Building, circa 1859, located in the downtown, historic district of Canal Fulton. Intentionally, the space has been left to resemble its original state, including sandstone block walls and hand-hewn beams. As a micro distillery, we specialize in producing craft spirits in small barrel batches with close attention paid to the details. All ingredients are from local resources in Northeastern Ohio and processed directly by the owner himself. Traditional distilling methods combined with new-age distilling technology ensure a consistently smooth and quality whiskey. Our featured product is Apparition Original Moonshine, a clear, unaged corn whiskey made from traditional corn mash with corn grown right up the road. Smooth and nostalgic tasting…just like our grandfathers made. Flavored moonshine to be added to the product line in the near future. We are proud to be located on the canal in the historic district of Canal Fulton which is situated in the Northwestern corner of Stark County, OH. Canal Fulton is full of amazing history -- much of which includes stories involving whiskey and spirits. In fact, historic documentation states that the Irish canal workers were paid with jiggers of whiskey for their work in constructing the Ohio Erie Canal from 1825-1932. Our products pay homage to these immigrant canal workers, many of whom died due to the arduous working conditions. If you have ever visited our small town, there’s a good chance you may have even come across one of their spirits as its well-known here that they are certainly still hanging around! We are confident that once the customer tastes the product, he or she will know the quality and craftsmanship that goes into every jar. The opportunity to bring something new to this community while practicing the old craft of distilling the way our grandfathers did is very exciting! They have blueberry, they have blackberry, they do a clear whiskey, they do an apple pie flavored whiskey, and then seasonally they do a p It's also available at Dugues Minute Mart here in Canal Fulton which is a state liquor store and also state liquor stores in the Akron Canton area and the Portage Lakes area. Of course also can be Botic Canal Spirit's Craft Distillery. It's a really good whiskey, some in a shot glass there, but they mash up the corn and they distill it and bottle it right there on the premises. It's a small distillery, great locally made product. Again it's Apparition blueberry moonshine. This is the particular one I'm doing right now. It has an excellent flavor. So if you're ever out here in the Canal Fulton area stop into the distillery or the minute mart out here in town or check some of the local liquor stores in the Akron Canton and Portage Lakes area because some of them also carry it.
