The Ackerman Winery had its very humble beginnings in the basement of the South Amana home of Harry and Louisa Ackerman in 1956. One hundred gallons each of Concord Grape and Rhubarb were the only wines produced. Today we're proud to have the distinction of being the oldest operating winery in the state of Iowa. The best part of all is the tasting bar which is open daily and offers complimentary samples. We are pleased to present some of the most exotic varieties around such as Dandelion, Mango, Pomegranate and Red Raspberry. If you prefer dryer wines, we have an excellent assortment of dry grape varietals as well.
