With support from Downtown Akron Partnership and the Knight Foundation, The Northside Marketplace will serve as an incubator to help startup companies grow, while offering Akronites a unique attraction. The marketplace will give new or small businesses an opportunity to operate in a standing location without going it alone. A staff member will work day-to-day with these businesses to guide and assist them, get them in contact with important resources like investors, lenders, accountants, etc. Our goal is to eliminate the risky step for businesses making the move from their "garage or basement" into a brick and mortar location. The end result will hopefully be businesses confident and knowledgeable to then have their own foundation in Akron, thus creating more local shops for the city. From food and spirits, including craft beer, wine and champagne, to merchandise and gaming - all of Akron's best under one roof.
