The Missouri State University Motorcycle Club seeks to promote motorcycle riding as a safe and economic alternative to automobile travel, educate members about safe and responsible riding practices, and assist members in the performance of motorcycle maintenance and upgrades. The faculty sponsor is Dr. Patrick Gartin of the Criminology department. Member benefits include maintenance clinics, group rides, regular club meetings, individual riding instruction, and various organized activities. The Club is sponsored by Pit Bull Powersports, where members enjoy a 15% discount on parts and accessories and a special in-house labor rate much lower than the standard hourly charge. The Club is affiliated with MOTO, Springfield Vintage and Cafe Riders, Let's Ride: 417, and various other local riding organizations. Club members also enjoy discounted labor rates through MotoGarage and its café restoration arm, MotoClassic.
