Motorcycle Suspension & Tuning, Repair, General Maintenance, Tires, Race/Track Prep, Insurance Work
Hi, my name is Dave Moss, Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning. Today we're here at Thunder Hill Raceway going through the Catalyst Reaction Suspension School. What does that mean? Well, a lot of people are extremely frightened of touching any of the controls on a motorcycle that relate to suspension. So we start with all the controls, what they're named, how they work. You get the individual components in your hand, they see how they work, and then they are required as riders to change their suspension with a methodical plan. What you're going to do now is take your rebound screw, so on the top of every four, yours is clearly marked C and R. Find out your range and start again from full staff to have them figure out how many adjustments you're going to make in sequence. Part of the hands-on workshop, which is really essential, is that you can get a tool and you manipulate your own settings. A lot of people will buy a bike off the showroom floor and never touch it again. Bike has adjustments that can make it extraordinarily comfortable for you to use. When you go to get on the brakes, the front end feels Right. That's what I was explaining in the class with a straight-rate spring. You move in the point of travel. Okay. Once you get out of this, well, hopefully you're not frightened of taking a screwdriver or an Allen key or a socket to your suspension to try and make it better for yourself. A motorcycle is for the most part, and some models are excluded, fully adjustable. So why not make the adjustments to your motorcycle to set it to your weight firstly and then optimize the hydraulics so that you now have a much safer motorcycle set to your weight and the way you ride the bike. So by the end of the school, I'll catch Know your bike. The goal then would be that you are fully aware of what to do to the motorcycle, what changes you can make to the motorcycle and what the net results are when you do it. You can feel the suspension is working. It feels safer. Yeah, that's the right one to use. And most importantly, that you do it with knowledge and with confidence. Because in the end, you'll ride the bike with a ton less effort, you'll feel far less fatigue, and the motorcycle will be an absolute pleasure to ride all the time.
