Restoring Old Kawasaki's and buildling Cafe Racers

We come back with a homegrown segment and what you see behind me here is the result of five years of hard work. This is known as Silver Bullet Coffee. It's a 100% sustainable coffee pod located just near Washington Square Mall. Josh Curtis is the founder and when we say it'sustainable, we mean that it's completely run by solar power. Josh Curtis, there you stand. So I'm going to ask you a little bit about your Silver Bullet Coffee. I would always think you need at least a little bit of electricity to make a good cup of coffee. So tell us how you're doing it without electricity. Absolutely. So we've spent about five years putting this all together. It's been a long running project. So what we started with was really looking at a lot of what Tesla is doing right now, looking at the balancing of potential and kinetic energy. So with going through and doing all that, realistically we're in Oregon, right? So we only have so much sunshine. We also have refrigerators that run 24 hours a day. So we need some kind of a supplemental power source. So what makes this a true solar hybrid and really the first one of its kind is that the entire coffee shop runs entirely off of solar power and batteries. And our supplemental power line that comes in is also all through green energy as well. So what I'll demonstrate right now is I literally can go in here and I can unplug our entire power source. So now we're completely autonomous. We're not plugged into anything except all of the solar panels and batteries that run the shop itself. And I'll have Steve come along here with me. I'll tell you what I appreciate. Come on inside. Can I tell you what I really appreciate, Josh? I love how you got the sun to position itself right above your coffee pot there for the sake of this segment. That was nicely done. Well, I mean branding and marketing, right? It's an important thing. And speaking to that, I mean we spent about a year and a half trademarking the name of this itself. There's this little brewer in Colorado by the name of Miller Coors that wanted to have a little conversation with us as far as the trade was concerned. So after about a year and a half of having some intense negotiations with them, we came to an agreement. Were able to move forward. We just will never be serving beer out of here ever. There's a promise. How about one more, I guess, example or instance of how you're converting that solar power into making coffee? Yeah. So Steve's in here shooting, which you can see right now on camera, all the different aspects of the unit itself. There's everything from all commercial grade stuff from an espresso machine, drip coffee maker, refrigerators. Part of what you have to look at is how are you cons So you want the most efficient equipment as possible. So the design of this all started from the inside. We completely gutted this. This is a 1963 Airstream. We took it all the way down to the frame and the electrical system in here is a DC over AC power system. So with that, we ran the whole DC side of the electrical system in the actual frame itself and then built everything up from there. So to my left over here, this is where our power management system is. So one side, we have the solar side that gives the readout from all of the different solar panels that we have on top and the voltage that they're pulling in. Then on the other side here, we actually have the battery management system, which I don't know if Steve will be able to swing around and get this necessarily. But these are the units that actually balance out the solar coming in and also supplementing any power that would be coming in from the pole, depending on when electrical devices turn on. Another thing that we do is everything shuts down at night. So when we're not open, everything turns off. One thing you don't realize is that coffee shops never turn off their espresso machines. They leave them on 24 hours a day. So what we've done is there's a lot of different wireless technology that we have in here as well that actually turns the devices off an hour after everyone leaves and then turns them back on an hour before they get here. So that's another way of being able to conserve power. Josh, I've got to j We only have time. We've really focused on it. I have to interrupt. I apologize. Yeah. I only have time for one more question. I feel it's probably the most important one in terms of you selling cups of coffee. Where the heck is this coffee pod located exactly? Absolutely. Okay. So we're full drive through and walk up. We're literally right on Washington Square property. If you're familiar with the area, we're literally in the same parking lot as the Thirsty Lion. You can't miss us if you come driving down. We're right across from Washington Square too. And you'll see the signs being able to lead on in here. It's really easy to get in and out. We're open Monday through Friday from 6 a. m. to 7 p. m. and then we're open on Saturday from 7 a. m. to 6 p. m. and closed on Sunday. I'll say congratulations, Josh. It sounds Silver Bullet Coffee. Again, located just by the Washington Square Mall. We're going to transition now from coffee to candy because of course, gang, this is the day.
