Hello, my name is Lee Weir and I'm the owner of Crossroad Cycles. I started my working career off in HRM and always came to C It was there that I decided that I want to move here as this area had what I wanted at a life. It was in 2009 that I had taken my lifelong hobby and turned it into a business of Crossroad Cycles. Power Sports has always been my passion and my love and from that day forward it's When you're doing what you And from there I've been able to take this company from my home-based business now to a 65,000 square foot building that houses the playground for 30-some employees. When I first moved to C Having a business in this area is You have the ability to know who your neighbors are, who the other businesses are in the area and develop working relationships with them. If you're working in a big city, whether it's the owner of a company or an employee in a company, you get lost in the chaos. It'so that's one of the huge benefits of being in this area. Our recent change in Crossroads is we relocated to Pugwash, Nova Scotia. This move for the company has been great in many ways and now gives us a building that allows us to have ample room for growth and change, a better facility for staff to work at. It also now allows me to have two companies under one roof. The building houses my power sports company in the front half and manufacturing company in the back half of the building. This here also allows us to adapt for employees as well. As many people have interest in both power sports and construction, so we can adapt working environments to suit each individual as well. So my name is Nancy Burgess Graham and my role here at Crossroads is strategic planning and communications. So what I do is I help build systems for the company, manage projects, and I'm the coordinator and liaison for outside partners and collaborations. So what inspired me to come to be part of the team at Crossroads was when I walked in here and saw a half finished showroom and I understood the vision that Lee was trying to create here and I was excited about the opportunity to help take this building from being derelict to a destination for the community and for the county. So at Crossroads we have approximately 30 employees right now and we're growing all the time. We have several areas where people can work. So we have the build shop where we have construction and carpenters, lots of skills within the carpentry industry. So on the power sport side of the business we have parts and service. So we have mechanics and technicians and customer service. We have online part sales. We have a whole online business where we inventory and warehouse parts and sell parts all over the world. And then we have the retail and sales side of the business where people work in the showroom and sell vehicles and accessories and apparel. One of the great things about working at Crossroads is that every age group is welcome. We have students that come to learn and be part of their O2 program and we have people that have moved here and they're doing a second career. So it doesn't matter your age. It's really about your skills and your abilities and your enthusiasm for the work and everybody's welcome. So Crossroads is new to the pugwash community but not new to Carbillian County. So we have lots of customers and lots of relationships with other businesses and other groups. So one of the things we've done since we've been here is we've been hosting high school students as part of their training program so they get to come and learn skills and abilities from trade technicians. So we're very excited about building more relationships in the community and in the region. My name is Travis Goobin and I'm a mechanic here at Crossroads and I choose to work here for the flexible hours and the opportunity to work on many different kinds of power sports products. Well I grew up on a farm and I used to always take stuff apart and now I come here every day and put it all back together. I think Crossroads is a great place to work because family environment, the opportunity to work on something different every day and lots of room to grow in the company and of course the people. My favorite thing about living and working in C My name is Griffin Refuse. I'm with the sales and financing department here at Crossroads Cycle Sales. I walked in here and saw this facility and couldn't wait to be part of the team here. What makes this job interesting is the variety. One minute I can be dealing with somebody on a snowmobile, the next on a building, selling a helmet to financing somebody for their dream sidecar and motorbike. It's never a dull moment in this industry. Someone were to be lucky enough to be part of this team, I couldn't stress enough how fortunate they would be. This is one of the best atmospheres I've ever had the pleasure of working in. It's fun, it's energetic. It's always exciting. The people, the customers, the other coworkers, the facilities, everything that comes with this job, the other opportunities, it's just upbeat all the time. It would be a no brainer to come to work in this place. Moving from Halifax to C It's as relaxing as you want it to be. The rural setting is great but you're also very close to everything. The proximity of this county to everything in Atlantic Canada is mind blowing. You've got really four provinces, three right on top of it, right outside our doors. You can see Prince Edward Island, you can see New Brunswick. We're the gateway to Atlantic Canada in many situations. It's a fantastic place to live and raise a family. That was the big reason I brought my two sons here and it's been fantastic. I'm a huge fan of C Just everything that it offers for me and my family and anybody else who wants to bring their family here. At Crossroads, skills that are required or needed to be successful here is passion, is love. You don't need to know everything. If you have the ability and the want to learn, then you're going to learn it and do a good job of it. This company when I started, it was my passion, it was my dream. I love power sports, I love toys. So anyone with that dream and desire, if they are looking and seeking a career in the power sports market, they're going to succeed because it's a continuous growing marketplace. If they have the want and desire, they can definitely j One of the benefits to having a career here is we can manipulate and mold positions to suit each individual. When you bring somebody in new to the team, new to the family, the original position that they come into may not be the best suit to them or for us. But with a continuous growing company and changing company, we can adapt and change to suit each person's individual, whether it's family needs or working needs, to adapt it to suit them so they're better situated for us and themselves.
