Hey what's up everybody it's Mike V with Bombarro Bus and today is the day the double A 500 series heads have come in. These are the ones we're going to use to build my brother's 1700. If this video helps you feel free to If not In either way let's get to it. These double A's I'm gonna be honest and this is the only thing I can say coming out of the gate. When you pick them up they don't feel as heavy or as sturdy as the original VW ones. But everybody knows what great material they were using back then versus what we have today. Other than that so far there's really nothing to say and only time will tell if these were worth the bang for the buck because he got them for $476 for the pair of these. And that's a pretty decent price. So if we start on this side we're gonna do a little comparison. First thing he did was get the bigger valves. He's got the 40 millimeter valves with the 35 and a half exhausts. So of course that brings the little gap between them closer than what you see on the stock valves. But if you look over here these don't have a crack between them and he puts a pretty good use on them. So only time will tell if these are prone to cracking between the valves. Another advantage to these are what they say is the three-quarter plug reach. See in there how deep that is versus how shallow this plug reach is. That one that is gonna lend itself to easier cracking between there and the valve whereas this deeper one will not. They also say they've modernized the combustion chamber here and you can see the differences. Let's look at the originals. You have a lot of rough b Okay. And then when you look at these everything flows. No rough b You can tell that everything's gonna want to flow better in there. So that's their modernized shape to the combustion chamber. The other thing they did was for went ahead and had these board out to would you get them 92's and what they charge you for that. Alright and what else did you have done to them? A fly cut to 49cc. If you saw on the first video when he went ahead and got his deck height where he wants it and I won't go too much in the detail on that there's an engine calculator but basically he knew what these needed to be cc'd to achieve his desired compression ratio. So when he ordered these heads he gave that n They're all ready to go with the desired compression ratio which in this case we're gonna do 8. 25 Yeah close. Right at 8. 25 to 1. So the other advantage while we're up on this side is they have this second full fin. So if you see there's a full fin and it has a second full fin right there. Look over here there's only one full fin. So what they did in sin was this lower cooling piece and it's on his old head and it goes right there. You don't get that with these heads so you gotta make sure that you pull your old ones off and get them there. Some people argue as to the big deal that these may or may not be and some people have even argued as to how many degrees they think of the difference this makes but I would argue that in an air-cooled engine where your only hope of survival is how cool your engine stays I would want every bit of help I could get so make sure you have these pieces if you don't get them brand new pull them off your old head make sure you get them on there they don't come with the double A's. Let'see what else is on this side while we're here. And also it was for the bore it was 20 and for the fly cut it was 80. Okay $20 for the bore and the fly cut was $80. So that's an extra hundred dollars that you tack on when you order these heads to get your desired compression ratio but it sure does be having the head paying to ship it out which is what we would have to do around here where we live pay for the machine work and then have it shipped back to us so that's a bargain and it's one of the reasons went with the double A heads. Like I said this is the first pair we'll be using and time will tell Okay one of the things they mentioned are you see the bosses for these rocker studs if you look on the other side okay there's no O-ring going to go there if you look on the other side it's a blind hole so look at this one go to the other side it's a blind hole impossible for a leak to happen there kind of
