Hello, t Plus I'm gonna pick out the best beginner bike for the money, and t So it's a little bit different, but let's get into it. So in at n It's 2,919 pounds. And I t Lex Moto, of course, have some great new options on the list for 2025. There's loads of bikes, loads of options, but t It resembles the Cynis T or Terrain 125 that I've reviewed twice, and we've reviewed it a couple of times here at Bike Matters as well. There was an AirCord one, a LiquidCord one. T It builds on the Cynis Terrain by going for the full 14. 8 brake horsepower, so the CBT limit, power from the motor. It's a single cylinder. It's got 18-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel, tubeless tires, w It's got 158 millimeters of ground clearance. You've got disc brakes, front and rear, and ABS. It's all quite top-spec, though the listed top speed is 62 miles per hour, w Maybe 70 miles per hour would be ideal, particularly with a bike that's got supposedly 14. 8 brake horsepower. It looks Maybe a rival option is the Rieju, Rieju Adventura 125, and I wrote that one back in 2023, so check that review if you wanna have another option. And another budget option from Lexmoto that I that one's 2,759 pounds and 99 pence, and it's got a bit of a Husqvarna build to it with the 14 brake horsepower single. But Just to get yourself on the road in 2025, t We'll keep to the Bike Matters helmet score, and I'm gonna give it three out of five. Next up, n Kiwi says t And with a listed top speed of 60 miles per hour with 11 brake horsepower and 9. 7 newton meters of torque at your disposal, it could be good, could be a bit underpowered, but I t But is t Kiwi featured an upswept exhaust gaiters on the telescopic forks, and they It's all scrambler features in my mind, as opposed to your stereotypical cafe racer with clip-ons and a bit of an aggressive look. Let me know in the comments if you agree. But anyway, the DRLs and LED front headlight look You've got a simple but nice central display with an integrated USB, w I'd argue this central gauge is even nicer than some of the premi I'm not looking at U-Tri The ABS is standard on t Again, scrambler, no? Sea- It's got a nice accessible price point, 2,499 pounds. And I believe the weight is 131 kilograms, w Other key ways to consider, you've got the Cruiser Spec K-Lite 125 at the same price point. And you've also got the tasty looking V-Cruise 125. It's got a liquid called V-Twin. No But it's got a meager 12. 7 brake horsepower for your 4,499 pounds. Style over substance maybe? I don't know, three out of five score. At now, fans of Bike Matters will know that we have the KTM Duke 125 in for review last year, so in 2024. And whilst it is a premi I won't comment on anyt 7 brake horsepower liquid called motor should better than how I found it on the road. Nevertheless, t It's got plenty of all new attitude for the road. It's got a five inch TFT display. You can get turn by turn navigation through smartphone integration. You've got WP Apex suspension with a rear shock that can be preload adjusted. You've got a large 320 mil front disc, w All in, it's great fun. And it's part of the Duke family, w But I t In my review, I was really struggling to get the LC4C to power me to even 60 miles per hour, w 7 ish brake horsepower. But saying that at lower speeds and on country roads, it was so fun to ride. I really did enjoy it in that side of t Considering some of the other options at a 125 level and the relatively I've put t It's quick s If you want more KTM Duke, click up there, have a little look at it. It's an enjoyable bike to ride, it's responsive, and it's good fun, particularly with that decent power to weight ratio. It's a combination of the CBT friendly limit, 14. 7-ish brake horsepower from the double overhead cam motor, w I found there to be plenty of space in the 785 millimeter seat, w And the tech on offer is pretty raw. Pretty analog feeling. But there is the latest Bosch ABS10 base unit featured. Suzuki's easy start system for firing it up every time one button push, and you get advanced electronic fuel injection. But the dash is a relatively basic LCD unit, as opposed to some TFT versions that you may see elsewhere. The price tag is getting up there with the top models. So if you're after a brand new option, t In fact, on screen here. A big pro is the quoted 117 miles per gallon from an 11 liter tank, w I'll give t But we'll stick with three. At n Both the Svart Pillon and the Vit Pillon from Husqvarna are the two arrows, and they're well worth considering in t As a quick note, the differences are basically an urban roadster with cast wheels for the Vit Pillon, or a tad more scrambler for the Svart Pillon with wire spokes and semi-nobbly scorpion rally tires, and they're both the same price. I'll opt for the Svart Pillon on t And you get an added screen and tank rack for no extra money at all, more for your money. A slight reservation here is that it's the same LC4C motor that's used from the Duke 125, the same motor that I struggle getting any top end out of. So I'd imagine the same would be seen here with t Even then, the spec is good. You get two power settings, street and rain, always an interesting choice to have two power modes for a 125. 8 cornering ABS, WP Apex suspension with 150mm of travel, a five inch TFT dash with smartphone integration, six speed gearbox with standard fit quick s Phew, it's a good spec. Four out of five bike matters helmets, says the score. We've got the halfway point here. N Over to Italy and there are a few tasty options from Aprilia if you've got a 125 on your mind. You've got, of course, t You've got the RS125, the SX and RX125. I've opted for the Tuono 125 the Tuono is an Italian designed and built street fighter with some of the 2025 updates and notable features here. You get new colors, a Viper yellow looks superb t A Euro five plus engine compliance check with DOHC and four valves, traction control, Bosch ABS with anti-roll over, an al And Tuono's over the RS are all about that performance, but with added functionalities, a more upright ride with handling at its core. Plus, I t Yeah, namely it's from the superb Tuono V4 ride to the top, but it's also the Tuono 660 and the brand new Tuono 457. If you wanna have more new bikes for t But yes, t 7 brake horsepower and 11. 2 newton meters of torque. It's got a weight of 144 kilograms, but it has that Tuono potential for a decent fun to ride bike. One downside could be the LCD instr I t Four out of five for the Bike Matters helmet score. Next up, time for the top four. T After these four, I'll give you my best for value money pick, and that's not a bike that's on t So, now t It's a really top spec mac Though we are waiting for the final spec list to be confirmed, at least as of writing and recording, to just see how good it will be. As I say, we saw it at Motorcycle Live 2024, and it really does look impressive. It's got some true sports bike heritage. There's a Stealth 125 if you want the naked version on the same framework, or Phantic have also got the Caballero 125, or the Supermoto's, the XMF and XEF, the Enduro one. Phantic is doing great, and they've reportedly sourced the Minarelli built single cylinder has a maxim 8 brake horsepower for your CBT riding limit, and it's accompanied by bi-bree breaking power, decent upside down forks, and an overall true sports vibe that isn't directly from the dominant Japanese market. The only issue for me, and the reason, I guess, that you've not put it in the top three, is that the full specs list are yet to be confirmed. It could end up being a bit of a damp squib that weighs in at But it is equally heavy on the wallet. It's quite pricey, and I doubt that would be the case, but we have to wait and see before we give it a top three spot. Until then, the potential and style here carries t What are you thinking the final spec will look Is it a bit of a dark horse, or is the price just a little bit too much, particularly when you compare it to the tried and tested rivals on t Hard to give a rating for myself, but let'say four out of five. Looks good, it's got a good motor. Let's hope it's gonna be top performing for t N So a sports bike for you, and a good one at that. Kawasaki's Ninja 125 is steeped in heritage. It's fitted with a liquid-cooled double overhead cam, four-valved single cylinder. It's got a full 14. 7-ish brake horsepower, so the CBT power, and a relatively punchy 11. 7-newton-metres of torque. So it should be nice on the road. T A full-size, yet slim, compact trellis frame features, alongside a 37-mil telescopic fork, and uni-track linkage rear suspension. You get front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, and it weighs in at a respect to 149 kilograms, so it's getting a little bit weighty. All in, it should be pretty fun on the road. Though one bike matters, commenter on the poll, did say Have to agree with that. Upside-down is now the right-way up. I mean, as a side note, look at the Tracer 7 with telescopic forks. Just looks a little bit weird to me, Naturally, there's also the Kawasaki Z125 to consider if you prefer a naked bike with a pinch of teen green and an accompanying upright seat in position. But I that's just always the most fun riding I've had. The price for t At 4,699 pounds, though some may prefer a TFT display. Again, who do you prefer, TFT over LCD? Am I wrong? Are you not fussed about it? I don't know, let me know. Four out of five bike matters. Helmets on t N So over to the big red wing in Japan. You knew Honda would be on this list, and here they are, n There are quite a good few options with 125cc motors if you're a Honda fan. You've got the Grom, the Super Cub, the CB125F. You've got older options It has a style, 14. 7bhp peak power from a double overhead cam four valve motor, and it's a Honda, so it's gonna be bulletproof. So has that reliability? But it's all a reasonable 4,699 pounds. What's more, you have a five-inch TFT, 41 mil, show a separate function, big piston forks, w Dual channel ABS braking with an IMU and nising calipers, a low overall 130 kilogram weight, so it should be good for 70 miles per hour at least. And you've got some bold colors. It's just a shame that the tank is relatively small at 10. 1 liters. I did also note here that the 2023 model was listed at 4,249 pounds, and it seems to be relatively similar as an overall package. So you could grab a bargain and just go for a slightly older model that will be just as good to ride. For t And here it is, the n After t It's the Yamaha R125. Of course it's the Yamaha R125. It's the a dominable Yamaha. And for a good reason, you see these everywhere, they're so popular. Bike Matters fans voted this as n The tech is top here, variable valve actuation for some greater top end power. An R1 inspired TFT display with smartphone connectivity, four Euro five plus compliant power at 14. 8 brake horsepower and 11. 5 newton meters of torque. You've got an assisting slipper clutch, traction control, ABS, and a decent weight, 141 kilograms. The 41 mil KYB upside down forks, and a link type rear suspension features alongside the Delta box chassis and al Ensuring the very best of the on the road control and agile handling. There's even a central LED headlight and dual LED position lights, w If you're a 125 CC rider, you'll know that the R125 tends to be the most sought after of all the bikes out there. Though you do pay for it, t And among the priciest out there at t So you could get one, hold its value, sell it just as much as you buy it. I don't know. Other options from Yamaha, of course, the MT125, the XSR125, and their arguably top three contenders too. If I personally was riding a 125, I'd probably be looking for an R125. It's got the sport YR style attitude, and it's got some motor GP influence in there as well. Five out of five helmets, and last for my budget pick, Zontair Z125 G1. Now, hear me out. Zontair seems to be on the up. They've been around for a w These ones are offering a good middle ground, shall we say, for your money and the spec that you get. Now t Bit long. The overall package here looks really, really decent. You've got dual channel Bosch ABS on disc brakes, front and rear, a scrambler-ish style. You've got knobbly tires from CST, LED lighting, a huge 20-liter fuel tank, underslung exhaust, dual USB ports, and al Liquid-cooled is good, and you get a slipper clutch. Power is quoted at 14. 5 brake horsepower, so not quite the peak figure, but it's not far off, and the torque figure here is the Again, that's quoted, we don't know for sure. The massing running order is 160 kilograms, but remember, it's got a 20-liter tank, so if you filled out at 10 liters, it's gonna come down a little. Or you fill it all the way up and you just get loads of miles in your legs. It may fall short a little bit in resale value and potential reliability, though you do get a two-year warranty from new.
