Harley Davidson parts and service
It's Pat from Progressive here at the Portland Progressive International Motorcycle Show. We're walking around looking at the beautiful bikes and the JMP Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show today. And I've got a new friend here. Actually, it sounds But Jeff, it's good to meet you, man. It's a beautiful bike that you brought. We're just going to kind of go front to back. You were showing me this one yesterday. Tell me what you brought to the show this weekend. Well, this is a custom Harley-Davidson, but it's assembled from all original Harley-Davidson parts. We had acquired three basket cases and were able to pick and choose the parts that we wanted to bolt together to create this motorcycle. The frame is in a 1948 only frame. The motor's a 1960. The front forks are about 1950-51 thereabouts. The gas tanks are from a 1960. The speedometer is from a 1948. The rear fenders about a 1954. And it's one of the neat things about Harley-Davidson that you could take parts from different models and bolt them all together and create a custom motorcycle and still use genuine Harley-Davidson parts. Absolutely. Well, and then the finishes that you've used on this are absolutely beautiful. I understand you were telling me the process you went through in order to get the forks and the covers and things to look You glass bead blasted them? We have a glass bead in them. Were trying to stay away from the finishes that Harley used. Harley used a lot of polished finishes because they were trying to make their motorcycles shiny, look And were trying to get away from all of the shine. We wanted a duller finish, a softer finish. And so you can take polished stainless steel and you can glass bead it to give it the softer silver finishes Wow. Well, I tell you that and the colors, you've just done a beautiful job of this motorcycle. And I'm so excited that you brought it out, man. It'so good to meet you. I look forward to getting to know more about you. Well, and we have a special technician that works for us, Mark Denklai. It's just he's an ace mechanic. He's worked for us for 23 years. He has his own style. He's got his own vision and he's very anal about what he does. We don't use bailing wire and duct tape in my shop. Everything is perfect here. Don't go out the door. Oh, man, I And thanks for the shout out for him. Hey, this is Pat from Progressive. You can check this interview out and many more with other builders on Facebook, YouTube. You can look me up.
