Stovall's Cycle

STOVALL'S CYCLE 8152 C. F. HAWN FRWY DALLAS, TEXAS 214 398 6500

The boys were back in town. Well, maybe not the boys. But the Grand Junction Rockies, they were back in town today after a nine day road trip. While the team was away, Junction went three and four, most recently losing a series to the Great Falls voyagers after getting shut out twice. Not a great road trip. Talking to head coach Jake Opitz before today's game, one of the problems may be a lack of leadership in the dugout. Opitz told us at this point in the season, it's time for somebody to step up. Well, I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine. Our offense has been really good. And then for us to get shut out twice in a series is something we're not used to. So I don'think it was fatigue. Credit there pitching a little bit. They threw some good arms and just really never got anything to do with those games. Well, that's what we're kind of looking for is some leadership. And I think we have a little lack of that right now. Not because we don't have leaders in there. It's just that we have younger guys. And for them to step up and be Well, they don't really know yet. So that's as expected. Losing a guy And being an older guy that guys could look up to, that's big in a clubhouse. And so we're searching for that a little bit right now. I'm not worried about that. I think it'll come. But we need maybe a couple of these guys in there to step up. So we got to find out if anybody stepped up in tonight's game. The grounds crew, they stepped up welcoming the Rockies back with a new wavy outfield pattern. Mustangs 13 and 18 on the season coming into Ciprisio. First inning Rockies pitcher Alfredo Garcia. He looked real good. There's one of his three strikeouts through six and a third. And then he also only gave up two runs on four hits. First inning Hunter Stovall, he sends the ball into the left center field gap. Nobody's going to get that for a while. Where's the clock? Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. He stands up on third with an easy triple. Next batter still in the first inning Coco Montez. He's going to single a little blooper into right center field. Stovall will score easily in junction. They're up on the board. One nothing over the Mustangs. Third inning, there's Hunter Stovall again. This one stays in play just to the right of the left field line. He's going to end up with a double. And he would eventually score later on in the inning. Four to one junction after the third. And there's the man again, Hunter Stovall. Boy, can he do it all. Yes, I did mean to rhyme on purpose. Home run to left field. And he now is just a single away from the cycle. Got to keep an eye on him. Five to one junction. Stovall batting 471 on the season. He's just been crushing it. Fifth inning, Grant Levine. He wants to get in on the fun too. Home run to left field. And now it'six to one grand junction. Final score though, seven to two. Stovall, he did not get the cycle just a single away. Oh boy, that was, he was really close. But making some noise. But still ends the night three for five. The bats really came alive for the Rockies tonight. Maybe because of the day off yesterday. That's just my guess. But they take the W7 to two and make quick work of the Mustangs. Daniel Antonia have to Montagno. Excuse me. We also have to mention him. He also had a three hit night and added two more RBI to his impressive season. Junction, they're not done yet. There's two more games against the Mustangs left in this series. First pitch tomorrow is at 640. Destination, Supleasio Field. And the Colorado.
