Welcome to the service clinic at Low Country Harley Davidson. I'm Doc Harley. Got an email from Sweden. Hey, we got a writer out there that wanted to get back into riding it. Road way back when. Finally had the opportunity. He bought himself a streak ride. Was taking off the saddlebags and looked and went, whoa, wait a minute. This one over here and this one over here are not the same. What's up, Doc? It's been a while since I've ridden. Okay, let's talk about this a little bit. All right. You might have been riding when we had the mechanical shocks back here. I don't know how early of a mile you left when you quit riding, but mechanical on here and you'd adjust it with this type of unit. And then for many, many years, Harley Davidson went with the air shocks. And of course you had to carry this around to adjust it. Well, Harley Davidson said, we've got this beefy swing arm here. Let's give you a little bit more control and make it easier for you to adjust it. So this side, this has nitrogen in it and it has the adjustability for preload. That means how much weight are you putting on this motorcycle? And it also controls a little bit of the rebound, but that's mainly what the other side shock does. It just controls the little b And here in Charleston, we got a lot of road patches or holes and all that stuff. But So Harley Davidson said, well, let's make it a little bit easier. So he put adjustability over here on this side and it has n Where, where, how do Just this, well, in your owner's manual or in your service manual, you will have a chart. This is out of a service manual for a dresser and you say, okay, right away, kilograms or let'say 180 pounds and okay, additional weight. I'm adding a little bit stuff in the saddlebag. So I'm going to crank it to seven. All right. And make that capability. So this motorcycle rides level instead of down a little bit. Now these n All right. And I'm not going to be the first one to ask how much your wife weighs when you're checking out the chart here. Okay. So And you're going down the road and she's going, dear, dear, this is a rough ride here. And you go, okay, okay, stop, pull over a little bit. You crank this down a little bit. You can tailor it to your ride. So the updated shocks are giving you a little bit more control. The nitrogen inside lasts a lot longer than the air shocks. I know with more age and age, you get little air leaks a little bit here and there. And these start wearing out a little bit. This will last a lot longer on it. So my friend in Sweden, you got the best thing going for you right now. And if any of your friends are kind of jealous of your setup on it, well, Now I'm hearing out there also, I go, well, I kind of Well, for your knowledge, since Harley Davidson went racing, bag of racing, now they are offering high performance shocks with the nitrogen canisters over onto the side and give you multiple adjustments of compression and rebound and really dial it in if you're going to go riding in the curves up in the Alps or anywhere else over in Europe. So you got options. But for right now, for your ride and getting back into Harley Davidson, everything's looking good. I hope you have a safe ride. Remember to adjust this for you and your rider or the gear that you're going with and have fun. I'm Doc Harley. I'll see you next week.
