After reading a study from Stanford University that found smartphones had 18x more bacteria than public toilets, we looked into this issue further. Additionally, we found countless examples and studies of how much harmful bacteria resides on our smartphones. We found information from Pew Research on how often we pick up and look our phones. When the types and amount of bacteria on healthcare workers phones came into the equation, it was decided a solution had to be developed.
