Well, back here we are celebrating Western New York tonight with a local ice cream staple. Cone King and Easterora opened back up today after closing last November for the winter, but they picked a pretty wintry day to start serving their cold treats again. Our Stephanie Barnes visited Easterora this afternoon to ask, is it too cold for ice cream? It's a brisk February day in Easterora as drivers take its slow on snow-covered roads and tree limbs are weighed down by acc An open sign in this Hamburg Street storefront just turned on, signaling the start of a new season. Easterora just got a little colder. It's time and people want ice cream. Time to do it. Cone King East is officially serving its frozen treats again after closing its doors just before Thanksgiving last year. Owner Kristen says they reopen every February, right around Valentine's Day, and they've got customers who seem to support it. Is it ever too cold for ice cream? Absolutely not. Why not? Because a true ice cream lover doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. You just come and get it when you want it. And Mark there is not alone. A handful of customers rolled in throughout the afternoon, ordering the shop's homemade ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes and specialty cakes. They've got vegan options this year too. Sue here stopped for, well, her meal. Tell me what you're doing here today. I'm getting lunch. And what's lunch? A chocolate milkshake. So the overwhelming consensus from my very unscientific study is that no, it is never too cold or too snowy for ice cream. I think that it is a very special time for people to just come and sit with their family and enjoy, I mean, 19 years we've been here. Whether it's an afternoon snack with friends, dessert following a meal with family, or even the meal itself, Cone King has found its niche here. And perhaps Western New Yorkers just Now Cone King East is open Sundays through Thursdays from noon to nine, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 10. And Cone King in West Seneca opens on March 1st. You saw my very unscientific study there. What do you think? Is it too early? Is it too cold? No, no, no, no. I'm with you. It's never too early. And I have my own hometown favorite, but I think just to be sure, I might drive to East Aurora to check it out. I have to say it was absolutely worth the drive. And it's homemade. So how can you go wrong, Mayor? Can't beat it. Great report. We love it. Thank you so much, Stephanie.
