Long before ice cream, there was gelato. And for Maria Coacine, there's really no comparison. I always say gelato, you can eat twice as much and feel half as filthy. The native Italian made it her mission a quarter century ago to share her passion with Seattle. And inside these cases, you'll find batches made fresh daily. One of the few in the country that actually makes gelato completely from scratch. We create distinctive recipes for each individual flavor. You can try a combo on a cone or in a traditional caffeinated treat. The affogato is a shot of espresso with a scoop of gelato. One of my absolute favorite ones is a combination of the panna cotta with a shot of espresso. Gelatiamo is also filled with cakes, pastries and cookies, also made by hand. Of course my background is in baking. My family has baked for over 200 years in Italy. Maria considers her staff family too. Some of them have worked here for more than a decade. But while their creations are authentically Italian, the shop's name is not. Gelatiamo is a made-up word with a tempting translation. Gelatiamo ends up being let's have gelato together. It's a verb, it's an action. And a time-honored part of Seattle history. I can only be in business because I have people that love gelatiamo and they've been coming in. So,
