In 1929 Phoenix was going through a building boom. To build more resort, the Orphi The building that would become McAlpine's pharmacy was built in 1929 also. By the time Fred McAlpine bought the pharmacy in 1938, it had become a gathering place for people of all ages. McAlpine's has seen a lot of changes over time, economic ups and downs, world wars, and even seen Phoenix grow from a small farming community to the fifth largest city in the entire country. At any given time over the years, you might have seen Frank Lloyd Wright, Barry Goldwater, even Wallace and Ladmo hanging out at McAlpine's.
