Rolled Ice Cream Nitrogen Ice Cream Dragon’s Breath
Last November, Arctic Cream opened in the former Paul's Poppers spot in Kalihi. They're the fifth store on the island that offers trendy rolled ice cream. The most popular rolled ice cream flavors are Oreo and Strawberry Sensation, but there are other unique ones But Arctic Cream features much more than just rolled ice cream. Arctic Cream is the only place on the island where you can get nitrogen ice cream. Remember Nitrogeny, the spot in Alamoana that closed early last year after being open for just about a year? My experience there was mediocre because my ice cream melted almost instantaneously. But I'm happy to say Arctic Cream delivers when it comes to liquid nitrogen ice cream. The texture is super creamy, but the consistency is Nitrogen ice cream flavors rotate daily, but include cotton candy, orange cream, ube, peach mango, and more. Best of all, this ice cream stays solid, so you can leisurely enjoy it without getting a brain freeze or worry about it melting too fast. Dragon's Breath is another specialty you can find here. It first showed up in Cherokee, but the one at Arctic Cream is cheaper. It's basically puffed cereal combined with liquid nitrogen. The cereals have different colors, but they taste the same. The liquid nitrogen is at negative 321 degrees Fahrenheit, so you don't want touch or drink it in liquid form. It stirred for 15 to 20 seconds and mixed with the cereal. Dragon's Breath only lasts for 10 minutes. It's a lot harder than it looks to breathe Since the smoke doesn't last too long, order a dipping sauce. It gives the cereal added sweetness and flavor. Bite it hard, keep the smoke in your mouth, and breathe through your nose. Arctic Cream's Cotton Candy Sunday is another popular order. It features homemade ice cream, toppings, a drizzle, and the cotton candy flavor of your choice. The most popular flavor is Blue Raspberry, but any of the cotton candies is sure to bring back memories of carnivals, festivals, and fun, fair food. This one's kind of hard to eat just because the cotton candy is massive. Arctic Cream is located at 555 North King Street and is open from 11am to 9pm on weekdays and 11am to 10pm on weekends. It's a fun place to get your ice cream fixed and you never know what cold treat they're coming up with next.
