Kelly's Cone Connection

If it's not broke, don't fix it. Kelly's Cone Connection in Hamden is one of the few treasures around town. There's no need to fix this busy business. Located adjacent to Glenwood Drive-In, Kelly Cone's connection prides itself on their homemade ice cream. They've been around for 30 years now and they're always looking to update their flavors and are always willing to learn and try out new kinds. It's not tedious, it's fun. But I need to come up with new flavors because I've been doing it for so long and sometimes you do get a little stale. So it's fun to go to the ice cream conventions and learn new things and come back and try to develop them and have them work out in your own store. Everything is homegrown, here in the U. S. and there are no mystery as to where the ingredients are coming from. We get a basin from a local dairy which is milk, cream and sugar and then we add our own ingredients to it. We add the best vanilla, we get it shipped from Chicago. It's one of the best vanilla's in the whole country. For chocolate we use cocoa and sugar and for everything else we try to find the best ingredients we could find. Kelly's Cone Connection is a perfect example of a homemade mom and pop shop. That's prime motive is serving the local and loyal customers here in Hamden.
