What makes Oberweiss products truly unique is our commitment to freshness and quality. It extends through all of the products we make and sell to our customers. The process begins at farm level and continues all the way to our shelves. Oberweiss dairy works only with the best farmers who provide us with the best tasting milk. We purchase milk from family owned dairy farms which pride themselves on superior quality and which certify that their cows are not treated with RBGH, an artificial hormone that stimulates milk production. Our farmers all have relatively small operations, some having fewer than 100 milking cows. It's very true that happy cows produce the best milk. Our farmers therefore focus on keeping their herd comfortably cool during the s Our fresh raw milk arrives several times per day at our plant where it's homogenized, pasteurized and bottled. We've chosen to use time honored methods in processing our milk. Although newer methods are more efficient, we believe they do not maintain the same level of quality. Milk tastes best when it's cold and not tainted by cardboard or plastic flavors from packaging. Returnable glass bottles have always been a hallmark of Oberweiss dairy. They protect the milk flavor and keep it colder than other packaging. Because the bottle holds the cold temperature better, it reduces the damaging effects of leaving milk out on a counter or kitchen table. But please don't let our milk sit out. The only drawback of the glass bottle is that it allows light to reach our milk, which can oxidize it. However, we have a simple and important solution. We always package our milk in a paper bag for our customers. We also have special lighting in our coolers, and the cooler doors are covered to prevent damaging light rays from reaching the milk. Recently, we began providing single serving units of our milk in the highest quality plastic bottles available, which also maintain the strict standards we set for our products. The outstanding taste of our milk, however, is definitely due to other factors than just the glass bottle, such as the outstanding raw milk our farmers provide, the time honored processing methods we use, and the delicate care we take in handling it.
