Aboutface Furniture Designs

refinishing and re-purposing vintage and antique furniture .. We also carry the best Milk Paint, stains and top coats on the market .. General Finishes

We work out of our home where we take vintage pieces that have been neglected or forgotten, we repair, sometimes restyle .. revamp .. refinish and or repaint and distress. We love to see a tired ole piece come to life .. on some pieces you know instantly what it wants to be in its new life .. sometimes you have to wait for that feeling to hit you .. and still other times you will take bits and pieces from two or more pieces to make a new piece .. all end up being "originals" because no two pieces will ever be exactly the same and since we make our own color stains and mix our own paints as each piece done. I have been doing this for over 45 years now, it has been a hobby and a true labor of love .. so the process we do is more time consuming and labor intensive than the chalk paint and wax your seeing a lot of now (although we do a little of that too) .. Always learning .. always testing new things.. its all about Loving what you do and enjoying it while you do it ;)

Hi, this is Nicole from the Pequot Lakes Chamber and I am here today with Shannon from About Face Friends. Thanks for having me, Shannon. Yes, very excited. I have been in this place once when she was doing a lot of work and there was nothing in here. And today I walked by and I was So she was cleaning the windows and getting everything off pretty and I walked in and I was Well, how long has it been since I've been here? Maybe three days? I don't know. I haven't been so long. But I walked in and went, oh my goodness, look at all this stuff. We are in, again, About Face Furniture in Pequot Lakes and Shannon, can you tell me a little bit more about kind of the mission, the background of About Face Furniture and what do you have to offer because it's awesome. Sure, absolutely. So we are About Face Furniture, which is a military term and we focus the business on veterans. We have over 20 vendors that some of them are veterans themselves. We have partnered with Commission 22 just because they help with preventing soldier or military veteran, veteran suicide. And so one day is too many. Some of our proceeds actually go towards Commission 22 to help prevent that. But yeah, we've got over 20 vendors and About Face Furniture is just veteran focused and we go off of that. It's beautiful in here. So this is the location where the old clock shop used to be. It is now About Face Furniture and I have been walking around here for about 20 minutes just looking and grabbing at everything. I've said if I did not have a husband, sorry, Corey, I would be probably buying everything in here because not only can you tell that there'so much work that's done to every single piece, but it's reasonably priced. I am shocked to see how reasonable everything is. There's a lot of heart, a lot of soul behind all this because all of the items in the store are handcrafted. So because we are veteran focused, I wanted it to be more of an American made product. So we do only have the handcrafted or hand made products in here. And some of the things that she has and looking around right now, you have benches, which one I might be buying so you might not have an opportunity to do that. And then we have chairs, you have some beautiful And I don't know how well we can see it on the camera, but it is super awesome and I just turn it on. But it's just carved ducks and just a beautiful steam and then it turns off and on. So can you tell me a little bit about the artist behind this? Sure. So the gentleman that makes this is obviously one of the vendors here. He is a veteran himself. It'scott Bile. He's with Kato Creations and he does magnificent woodwork. He's got, this is actually one of his pieces as well. So he does all of that and we do a veteran of the month every month. He's actually going to be our first veteran. So we kind of take a picture and we kind of tell their story because we don't want them to feel And to acknowledge them every month is something that I was very h And I don't want that. And it shows in all of the things that you're doing within your business. So we appreciate that and we're just happy to have her in Pico Lakes as well. So one really neat thing about this is I think you actually don't just cater to the ladies, but we do not. So we actually have a lot of gentlemen things kind of moving into this area. I noticed that there's a lot of guys that kind of feel out of place. Most boutiques are focused towards the women. So one thing that I wanted to do to kind of separate us and is put in more gentlemen things as well. Yeah. Well, I'm sure they appreciate it and it's nice to see them as well. So if I want to get ahold of you, how do I do that? Sure. So you can either give us a call. It's 320-774-9435 or we do have a Facebook page. It's just about face furniture and Facebook. Perfect. And just so When is your grand opening? Grand opening is on Friday, which is September 1st at 10am. Awesome. You do not want to miss out on this grand opening. It's going to be fabulous. It's going to be amazing. I can't wait. I will be here at 10am. So, yes. Thank you again for having me. Thank you very much for doing this. Yes. And if you're interested in doing a business spotlight, feel free to give me a call at the Picoat Thank you.
