We make handcrafted brooms in the traditions of early America. In addition, we have a period 1800's General Store with toys, household items and cosmetics
We have been making historically correct brooms since 2008. Our brooms are featured at many historic sites and venues. We do public demonstrations of the craft using not only historic methods but historic equipment as well. Each broom is constructed using the same techniques that were used prior to the 1830's. This includes specially selected hardwood handles, natural broomcorn and hemp binding (no wire wrap). Full stalk broomcorn is used inside and out and we are especially known for our unique weave and product durability. There are a variety of sizes in both round and flat styles. Our unique wedding broom honors the wedding couples journey through life and brings to mind a time when the bride would sweep a circle around her new husband to keep him forever faithful. On August 31, 2017, we opened the Republic of Texas Broom Shop and 1800's General Store in the Limestone Cabin at the Museum of Texas Handmade Furniture in New Braunfels, Texas. We are carrying 1800's cosmetics and personal items from LBCC Historical Apothecary as well as lanterns, books, toys and other household and camping items. Living Historians and reenactors will appreciate our quality merchandise. If you wish to create a historic ambience at home, we can help. In addition to the broom shop and store, we are providing living history demonstrations at the Museum. Its a beautiful, peaceful location to spend a few hours relaxing and learn a little history and maybe take a little history home.
