Roberta Schilling

Contemporary furniture featuring clean, modern lines and striking shapes by artists who bring a new, creative perspective to contemporary furniture making.

A native of Brazil, Roberta Schilling was born into a family of designers and grew up in Minas Gerais state, the cradle of Brazilian colonial architecture and art. From a very young age she was introduced to the world of art and decoration, as her mother owns a renowned local home accessory and fresh flower boutique. Growing up in Brazil, and later attending college in Florida, has given Schilling a special ability to market products from her native country in the United States. As a college student, Schilling saw an opportunity to bring high-end, hand-painted Brazilian furniture to a receptive American audience while hunting for merchandise for her mother’s store in the US trade shows. In 1995, 24 year old Schilling founded her company which stands today as one of the premier distributors of Brazilian furniture. A trendsetter by all accounts, Schilling has seen her business grow to include accessories, decorative glasses, natural fiber textiles and fine Brazilian colonial antiques. In 2006, she introduced a line of contemporary furniture featuring clean, modern lines and striking shapes. The success of the line led Schilling to start traveling all over Brazil in search of talented local artists who bring a new, creative perspective to contemporary furniture making. Her impeccable taste helps her play the role of a curator, hand-picking unique and bold contemporary pieces and mixing them with her first inspiration - fine Brazilian colonial antiques – to create an ambiance that exudes charm and sophistication.

I really get inspired by my everyday. I live in a wonderful place in Miami where it's very bright and it brings back a lot of memories from my own culture, my own country and my people. Everything from where I come from is just I'm Roberta Schilling. We are in my High Point showroom. I'm super excited about all the new introductions we have for this market and all the categories that we display. We have something new. I don't really go with the colors of the year kind of thing. I go with the colors that I love and what I think that really makes sense at the moment. And with the organic materials that we're working with, So we mix the mother pearl with the seeds. We mix the mother pearl with the roots and we go from there, So we make It flows very naturally. How could you pick a favorite sun? It's like you love them all, I love everything we do. As I go around, I keep walking around the new showroom and I just love everything. I'm just so proud of it and so proud of all of our artisans and all the work that they do. It's just a blessing. This is something that I learned from my mother too, who's been in the business. It's an inspiration for me to surprise my clients. Every day I'm thinking of how I'm going to surprise them and how I'm going to bring up something new next. That's the never-ending story and that's what really keeps people from coming back. I would say that they should always do what feels good and not what really looks good to others. They really have to look for what they really, really makes them happy and not really what the trend is. I really love people that are not afraid to try and they incorporate everything that is part of their lives into their everyday lives. Thank you.
