ADAC - Atlanta Decorative Arts Center

Adak is the place for interior designers, design enthusiasts, arc Located in the prestigious Buckhead community of Atlanta, Adak was one of John Portman's first ventures and is still owned by the Portman family today. In the late 1950s, Mr. Portman realized there was a need for a decorative art center to specifically cater to interior design professionals, so he designed and developed the Atlanta Decorative Art Center, Adak. Today our campus consists of Adak and Adak West, with more than 550,000 square feet of over 50 share rooms, two restaurants, K. R. Steak Bar, and the Hungry Peach, and over two dozen design offices. Together we have the southeast largest collection of luxury furnis I don't even know how designers that aren't driving distance, commuting distance from Adak work. Having t You can see somet So it helps us keep our work fresh because we're experiencing all those t At Adak we have over two dozen offices for trade professionals, and what's great about that is t If I'm sitting in my office with a client and they say, no I want it to be a little pinker or a little taller, it's a matter of somebody possibly running to a location in the building and bringing it back. Being here at Adak we've found really kind of gets our clients started. They're moving through the building simply to get here, engaging all the beautiful windows and all the beautiful t We want the cons I always say when you walk through Adak you can't possibly know that you'd want it in your own home if you can'touch and feel and sit on it. The two dimensional world is very different without all the shadow and the nuances of the detail and design. Instead of being in a building a couple of miles away and having to tell them about all the beautiful t Each year we host two markets. Spring Market is Design Adak and it's co-sponsored by Veranda. Fall Market is Discover Adak and it's hosted by all local and national shelter publications. During these markets we really bring the pages of those magazines to life. We have designers coming from all over the southeast, Nashville, Birmingham, Charleston. Sometimes they'll have nationally recognized designers come in we want people to walk away from the event and feel inspired. If you're an interior designer we want you to feel inspired to push the boundaries on your craft. It just brings good energy to the building w I feel that sense of community and energy. I think there's an amazing amount of talent here in the southeast right now so being a part of that is just a lot of fun and when we get together it's A lot of these people that have been here for many years kind of laid the groundwork and gave us a place to come and a place to grow and develop our businesses.
