DTSA Farmers' Market

Sundays, 10am-2pm. A family-friendly Farmers' Market looking to serve the amazing community of Downtown Santa Ana.

I was the only one that had some sort of experience working in farmers markets. I had used to work for an olive oil producer and sold at markets and so I said, I'll do it. With the downtown San Ana farmers market, I had been working in a few of the restaurants down there. There hadn't been one in San Ana in So it was starting really from just the idea to getting everything off the ground from. . . In California, farmers markets either need to be run civically, so through a city, farm bureau, or they need to be run through a non-profit. So we had to get a non-profit started, get approved by the Department of Agriculture, the Health Department, the city, all kinds of things. There was probably about a year and a half of work before were even able to be approved to launch. It's every Thursday, 4 to 8 p. m. and yeah, it's kind of in the Spurgeon Plaza downtown there. So part of my job as the market manager is to help curate the selection at the market. We're small, but we're thoughtful. I mean, there's a lot of. . . Orange County is saturated with farmers markets, so we're trying to do something at least a little bit differently. There's, again, there's the food access point, but I'm also trying to bring in some artisan food vendors that aren't at other farmers markets, so there's a reason why. Thank you.
