Every purchase benefits someone, somewhere.
In 2010 we started as a screen printing company in a college living room. Six months later we opened in Downtown Springfield, Missouri. We have a small store which means we only carry the best products. Products that benefit people all over the world, products that are handmade with love, and products that you can't find anywhere else. Everything we sell has been hand-picked or designed by our team so that we could offer our customers something we're proud of.
Music A group of college students in Springfield, Missouri decided in 2010 to found a company dedicated to the principle offering quality products that help make the world a better place. Out of this decision, Global Teas, a custom screen printing business, was formed. The countless sleepless nights printing shirts was only the beginning and set the foundation for what is now five pound apparel. One of the things that's been really surprising to us is just how supportive the community's been, how great of a place Springfield and just Missouri in general is to start a business. The taxes are lower, it's just been so rewarding to actually start a business here in terms of that aspect. The company's name, Five Pound Apparel, comes from the fact that for each of their branded items sold, they donate five pounds of nutritional treatment to their partner, Nepal Nutrition. The company does its best to be socially responsible and its in-store retail offering consists of products from On the online you'll find a constant rotation of the company's own products, including Missouri inspired shirts and limited edition exclusive offerings. The company recently deployed a Kickstarter centered on their theme, Missouri is Awesome, to raise money and feed neighborhoods across the state. To date they have raised $33,215 from the sales of their quirky t-shirts desired by all walks of life. From an idea among college buddies to a thriving successful business, Five Pound Apparel is a homegrown success story. The Missouri is Awesome thing, we wanted to take that idea and not just have it for people in Springfield, we wanted to present it to everyone in the state. I think people in St. Louis think Missouri is awesome, I hope that people all over the state think that Missouri is awesome. So for us it's just being able to tell that story through hopefully what we think are funny t-shirts,
