Well welcome to t God created t He placed Adam and Eve in the garden and then Adam and Eve fell. Now where would t So join us as we search and go on this discovery and show you the most The Garden of Eden Now the Garden of Eden is described in the book of Genesis as being the place where the first man and woman Adam and Eve were created by God and lived until they fell and were expelled. The Hebrew meaning of Eden is pleasure and delight. It was a perfect place. It was heaven on earth. Now interestingly the Garden of Eden is the first location described in the Bible. If you read the Bible you will find that the Garden of Eden is the first actual place that God describes and he describes it in great detail. T Whether or not you believe t So was the Garden of Eden a real place? I believe the Garden of Eden was a real place that existed at the beginning of creation. Its location is given in stark detail along with the story of Adam and Eve. Even Jesus affirmed the Genesis account and the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve as a real place in real time and he affirmed it on various occasions and t It says in Matthew 19, 4 and 5, Jesus is speaking here. He says, He answered, Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, Therefore a man shall leave So Jesus is directly quoting from Genesis chapter 2 and gives t Now we also believe that God is the author of Scripture so we take the Genesis account very literally and as inspired by God. Additionally, all the places mentioned about the location of the Garden of Eden are real places as well, many of w Now why has the Garden of Eden been so difficult to locate? The main reason is because of the translation of the Hebrew in Genesis 2-10. A river flowed out of Eden to water the Garden and there it divided and became four rivers. Some Bible translations make it seem there was one river flowing out of the Garden that formed four other rivers. Other translations make it sound The Hebrew in t We'll address t So when we really understand the meaning of Genesis 2 and the four rivers it will really clear up the picture and make it quite easy to locate the Garden of Eden today. So now let's look at t It says, a river flowed out of Eden to water the Garden and there it was divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is Peshon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Habalah where there is gold and the gold of that land is good. Padeli The name of the second river is Gi'hon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Kush. And the name of the t And the fourth river is the Euphrates. So let's look at a few translations of Genesis 2-10 to better understand what t In the English Standard version it says, a river flowed out of Eden to water the Garden and there it divided and became four rivers. So it seems The new international version says, a river watering the Garden flowed from Eden. From there it was separated into four headwaters. Now we're going to get the New King James version says, now a river went out of Eden to water the Garden and from there it parted and became four river heads. We notice here that some of the translations mention four river heads. The Hebrew in t Now in the Anchor Bible commentary of Genesis, E. A. Spicer explains the meaning of t He says, in verse 10 the term heads can have not In other words, instead of one main river becoming four separate rivers in Eden, four rivers become one river in Eden. The mention of four river heads designates the river heads are what flow into one river so that in Eden four rivers become one and then the one river flows. Spicer continues, there is thus no basis for detouring the Gihon to Et In other words, the Gihon and Peshon rivers are going to be located in the same area as the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Also in A. Kitchen also holds t He says, therefore, Kitchen also believes the Hebrew and Genesis 2. 10 refers to four rivers becoming one river instead of one river becoming four rivers. So to s T 10 passage. Additionally, in ancient Hebrew, the word head didn't necessarily refer to the beginning of a river, but rather it indicated a place where a river intersected with other bodies of water. It should also be mentioned that nowhere on earth can there be found one river that turns into four. There is also no point where the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, whose locations are very well known today, have a point where one river turns into two. The idea of one river turning into four rivers contradicts how water tributaries function. They always go from smaller rivers merging with larger rivers and growing until they empty into some ocean. The idea of larger rivers turning into smaller rivers just doesn't happen, and it violates the whole idea of rivers joining and becoming greater as they go until they empty into some body of water. So I believe the best understanding of Genesis 2. 10 is that four rivers joined to become one and then flowed. Not that one river parted and became four rivers. Now when we understand t So I'm excited to share with you the area in w Now it appears that Genesis was written from a post-flood perspective. T With therefore, we should be able to locate its general vicinity today. This doesn't mean the Garden is However, its location still exists. Now with the scene being set here and understanding the meaning of Genesis 2. 10, we are now ready to begin our search and locate the area in w And again, I'm excited to share t So where are the locations given for the Garden of Eden in the Bible? After Genesis 2. 10 describes four rivers becoming one in Eden, it provides n Let's look at them one by one. The first is the land of Havala, where there is gold. It says in Genesis 2. 11 and 12, the name of the first is Peshon. It winds or goes through the entire land of Havala where there is gold. The gold of that land is good. Aromatic resin and onks are also there. Now Genesis 2. 5. 18 tells us exactly where the land of Havala is. It says, they settled from Havala to Asher, w So the land of Havala is directly between Egypt and Assyria, sure is Assyria. T Before the time of King Solomon, t After the time of Solomon, it was known as Arabia. Many Bible verses confirm t Genesis 2. 12 also mentions that the land of Havala was rich in gold. It should also be noted that t In fact, it has around 55 gold mines still in operation today. T 12 says about it being rich in gold. Additionally, in t Sculler Carroll It is therefore very In s Once again, Genesis 2. 5. 18 tells us that it is exactly east of Egypt on your way to Assyria. Both of these locations are very well known today and they were known when t Our first key location, Havala, is very certain. From Havala we are going to continue to build these locations and narrow down to find exactly where the Garden of Eden would be located today. The second location is the Peshon River. It says in Genesis 2. 11, the Peshon River winds through the entire land or goes through the entire land of Havala. T Now the climate has changed since the writing of Genesis, so t However, there is a strong, strong candidate that's called Wadi R This Wadi that begins as Wadi R Google Earth can show t It was first located in 1994 when Dr. Forouk El-Baz, director of the Center for Remote Sensing at Boston University, and a pioneering figure in remote sensing used groundbreaking penetrating radar images from the space shuttle to locate and trace the bed of ancient river that flowed for about 600 miles or 965 kilometers through Saudi Arabia, ending in Kuwait where it became a broad water course, 3 miles or almost 5 kilometers wide. Also, Joel Kramer, an archaeologist, recently explored t He found the same rocks in the mountains that are down toward its end. T Now the climate as we mentioned of Havala changed at some point. Maybe the Dead Sea area was once watered So the Peshon River, w In so this dry riverbed, this Wadi Ar And we believe, and many other scholars and Bible teachers believe, was the Peshon River that ran through Havala. Absolutely amazing. And it arrived at just north of today the Persian Gulf. So we see pictures of the Puzzle coming together. We know where the land of Havala is, and we see t So the t Genesis 2-13 mentions that the Gihon River is in the land of Kush. It says, the name of the second river is the Gihon. It winds through the entire land of Kush. There are generally two locations where Kush is referenced in the Bible. The first is in the area of modern-day Iraq north of the Persian Gulf. The second reference is in Africa and translated as Et Some of the confusion regarding the location of Kush stems from the incorrect ass But the story makes it very clear that the four rivers of Eden joined together, so the Nile River doesn't fit the biblical description of its location as it doesn't join the other rivers and is on an entirely different continent. Kush derives its name from Kush, the son of Ham, son of Noah. In its beginning, we see that the land of Kush encompassed the land of Mesopotamia, just to the east of where the Garden of Eden is located and around the Garden of Eden. Genesis 10-6-10 says, the sons of Ham were Kush, Egypt, Pute, and Canaan, the sons of Kush, Siba, Havala, Saptah, Rama, and Saptika. The sons of Rama, Siba, and Daedon. Kush fathered Nimrod. He was the first on earth to be a mighty man. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, The beginning of From that land, he went into Assyria and built Nineveh. Rehoboth, Eir, Kalah, and Resem between Nineveh and Kalah, that is the great city. So t Now we have t It would be just east of the Persian Gulf, east of the Tigris and Euphrates River, just in what today would be western Iran. The land of Kush is also mentioned throughout the Old Testament and Kus So Kush was located at the beginning of biblical But afterward, in the migration of the Kus After that time, the Kus Wherever Et Now w It would have to be in the area north of the Persian Gulf because that's where the other rivers are mentioned in Genesis. It's also the land where the Kingdom of Kush began as mentioned in Genesis 10, 6 through 11. So now we have t It is just northeast of the Persian Gulf today. The fourth area we're going to locate is the Gihon River. In Genesis 2. 13, it mentions that the Gihon River is in the land of Kush. It says, the name of the second river is the Gihon. It winds through the entire land of Kush. Now we know where the land of Kush was located. We only need to look for the Gihon River in the Gihon River is not mentioned today, but the leading candidate is believed to be the Karun River as it runs through the land of Kush and joins the Euphrates, Tigris and Peshon rivers just north of the Persian Gulf. It matches perfectly with the biblical account. Other candidates for the Gihon River are the Karha River and Des River. These two rivers also flow through western Iran and meet up with the Tigris and Euphrates. Genesis links t With the leading candidate for t 10-14. Now our next location given in the Bible is the east side of Asher. Genesis 2. 14 mentions the Tigris River and that it ran along the east side of Asher. It says, the name of the t It runs along the east side of Asher. Now Asher is well known assyria in the Old Testament period. In fact, many Bible translations use Assyria instead of Asher. So now we have t Asher or Assyria is where the Tigris River ran. Now our next location is the Tigris River. Now t It is exactly where the Bible places it in Genesis 2. 14. The Tigris River, known in Hebrew as the phrase, the Great River, is used to describe the Tigris in Daniel 10. 42. The Tigris is formed by the confluence of two rivers that flow from the mountains of Armenia. The Tigris River joins the Euphrates River north of the Persian Gulf. Its location and the fact that it joins the Euphrates River fits perfectly with the Bible's location of the Garden of Eden today. So you can see the pieces of the puzzle are just becoming more and more clear. So we know where Assyria is, the land of Asher. We know that the Tigris River flowed exactly through it. And we know that the Tigris River joins up with the Euphrates River before it goes into the Persian Gulf. Absolutely amazing to see all of the next location is the Euphrates River. The latter part of Genesis 2. 14 says the fourth river is the Euphrates. Interestingly, t Why is t I believe it's because the river was so well known at the time Genesis was written that the audience had no need to know its location. It would be the same today. The Euphrates River runs almost parallel to the Tigris River. These two rivers defined a large part of the Fertile Crescent, the cradle of civilization in ancient times. The Euphrates River is mentioned in God's promise to Abraham regarding the land of Israel and is used as one of the defining borders of the promised land. We are also told that there was a time when Jewish civilization had spread so far that members of the tribe of Reuben were living all the way to the banks of the Euphrates River. Here we see once again another piece of the puzzle, the Euphrates River, w Absolutely unbelievable. Now one t All the rivers mentioned in Genesis 2, 10-14 must meet at some point. And with the locations of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers being so well known, the only place that t So where is the Garden of Eden? Considering all the locations we have looked at, I believe we can safely locate where the Garden of Eden existed. The most common location for the Garden of Eden is in Mesopotamia, w The primary reason is the mention of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers w T Another location that has been proposed is the region around Armenia because t However, there is no place in they don't join together until just north of the Persian Gulf. They aren't one river and split in the northern part of Armenia. Interestingly, in the small southern city of Gurnah in Iraq, an unusual shrine stands on the shore where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet. There is a small dead tree protected by low brick walls and surrounded by a concrete plaza. According to legend, t Now realistically, t But Gurnah has been noted in travelers accounts for centuries as the place where the great Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet and join together for a few miles before emptying into the Persian Gulf. Elements from the early stories of Genesis have been traced to the cuneiform tablets written by the S T Now even if t Now how big do you suppose was the Garden of Eden? Now before I began researching for this video, for some reason I just had the idea that the Garden of Eden was kind of However, afterward I believe it was the size of a small country. It was a large area designed by God where Adam and Eve could flourish, could propagate, could be fruitful and multiply. So I believe it was a larger area than just a small valley or a valley itself. It was quite large. So where the Garden of Eden is, encompassed a larger area than probably what most of us t So what are some faith lessons that we can learn from t So the Garden of Eden was heaven on earth. God created it perfect. It says in Genesis 1. 31, And God saw all that he had made and behold it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning the sixth day. God made everyt So what about us? Do we believe the Genesis account is real? Do we believe the Garden of Eden was a real place and that God created Adam and Eve there? And it was in its original form a perfect place, heaven on earth. Do we believe t And I believe it is because I believe that God's word is true. I believe that God inspired the Bible. So I believe that all that happened is literal and that it was a real place and it was perfect in its beginning. The next faith lesson is that the disobedience of Adam and Eve led to Paradise Lost. So we begin with Paradise gained or given in the beginning, but now we're going to see Paradise Lost. Now God created everyt However, because of their disobedience to God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, sin and death began and the entire world was cursed. It says in Genesis 2. 15, Then Satan comes along in the form of a serpent and he deceives Eve by lying to her. She takes of the fruit and then gives it to Adam. And so then darkness comes after t So Satan comes and he lies to Eve and says, Has God said? And Satan does the same for us today. He always comes and says, Has God really said? In other words, Satan is always trying to get you to question God's word and not believe in it. Not to believe that it's literal. Not to believe that the Genesis account is literal. Not to believe that all of the miracles that happen in it are literal. He's always trying to rob and take away from God's word and its supernatural essence. He says, Has God said? He puts lies in our minds to doubt God's word, to doubt When we believe Satan's lies and go our own way, then we reap death and destruction. So when death and destruction began in the Garden of Eden, it continues. And when we continue to believe Satan's lies, death and destruction continually happen in our lives. It says in Galatians 6, 7 and 8, The flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. The flesh here refers to the sinful nature, what we want to do. But the one who sows to the spirit will reap from the spirit eternal life. So as a result of the sin of Adam and Eve, mankind fell into sin. God cursed the earth. So now each person is born into a dark, sinful world with a sinful nature. However, there is amazing hope. T And we can enjoy it for eternity. And I'm going to share with you how that's possible. So t Jesus died for our sins. He paid for our sins. And when we believe in that and we believe on He lives wit So what was lost in the Garden of Eden can now be regained in heaven for eternity in paradise. If we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for us and that He died for our sins. And when we believe in that and receive It's absolutely, as the Bible says, good news. In fact, the word gospel means good news. And it is good news. So now this terrible life that we have to go through and live in, we have the hope that it can be over at some point when we die or when the Lord comes for us and we can go to paradise and live in the place that God has prepared for us, which is It says in John 3. 16, Then the last of the faith lesson is t Now t Adam and Eve didn't eat of it. Then God didn't permit them to be able to eat of it in their sinful state. But in heaven and paradise, we will be able to eat of t It says in Revelation 22, 1-5, So what about us? Do we have t So when we repent of our sins, we'll be able to eat of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. Our bodies will be supernatural. We'll have new bodies. He will wipe away every tear. We will have glorified bodies. We will live in a perfect place with perfect people and perfect happiness with perfect emotions. Everyt So that is our hope. So I hope that you have placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and you have received Well, I believe in s I believe, however, that it is not nearly the same. I believe that it has changed, obviously, but I believe that t So I t Well, I hope you have found it very helpful and enlightening to you. .
