The cave store is a historical sight with the only entrance by land to one of the seven sea caves. You walk down into a man made tunnel till you get to a platform with a beautiful ocean view from inside an all natural cave. We have been open for over 114 years. $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
Outside of the store's beach-inspired knickknacks, the Cave Store has really built quite a lot of buzz out of their old smugglers' tunnel. While I will admit walking down the stairwell towards the cave's opening gives off a fun, adventurous feel, you're left wanting more once you've experienced the main view. Looking out through the opening, you can see kayaks and paddle boarders enjoying the cove, and that's about it. Plus, the immense amount of sunlight coming in from the hole isn'too kind of cameras. All these knocks aren'to say that access to this cave isn't cool, it's just hard to justify a long wait in line to see a cave since it's only going to take you a minute to experience. But if you do want to check out the cave, be sure to arrive before opening, because having no wait time really makes this short experience much more appealing. Also, be sure to walk and enjoy the bluffs right next to the store. From there you can walk around a well-maintained path to a couple overlooks with benches to enjoy the view. Heading south you can experience the rest of La Jolla's famous coasts, and you'll probably see some of their famous sea lides. Just make sure to give them some space. We also recommend Scripps Aquari
