King Ranch Visitor Center

Come visit the historic King Ranch located in Kingsville, Texas! We have 160 years of South Texas ranching history and a variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. Come learn about the history of the King Ranch, see King Ranch Quarter Horses, Santa Gertrudis cattle, and our herd of Texas Longhorns on one of our tours; and find out more about our current operations. At the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is the 588-acre King Gillette Ranch, designed in the 1920s for the safety razor magnate King Camp Gillette. The ranch is now owned and managed on behalf of the American people by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority in cooperation with the National Park Service, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and California State Parks. The entrance to King Gillette Ranch is easy to find just south of the city of Calabasas at the intersection of Las Virginas Road and Mulholland Highway. The park is open from 8am to sunset. But the King Gillette Ranch is more than just a jewel nestled in the mountains. It's an exciting and economical way for families and friends to enjoy special recreational programs offered at the ranch. There are s Where can you find a better recreational bargain than this? And across these mountains, a profusion of seasonal wildflowers is here to be enjoyed throughout the year. The Anthony C. Bielenson Visitor Center opened in June 2012. It was built in the rehabilitated historic stables of the King Gillette Ranch. The remodeling of the visitor center was focused on preserving Wallace Neff's original design. The building has achieved a net zero energy balance and a leadership in energy and environmental design leads platin The visitor center is open from 9 to 5, 7 days a week.
