I'm a vitalist because I believe in the vitalist's healthy community concept and I believe that all of our employees, all of our customers and everybody that lives in our community deserves access to things That's why I'm a vitalist. Conscious capitalism is about t One t It's important for a company to understand who their stakeholders are. It's obviously the suppliers and the customers and employees but I'd argue the community is also a stakeholder of every company and if a company truly cares about their people then they're going to care about the environment in well that's where you get to community health and what vitalists has put together. You start t So about 15, 18 years ago I reframed the entire company's purpose to be around making an impact on the community. Specifically challenging employees, how do we use the surplus assets, resources and talent that we have at Goodmans to leverage against community needs? One of our employees in Tucson said well there are no foster clot There are four in Phoenix but none in Tucson. We have surplus assets that we can use. We've got a warehouse, we've got trucks, we've got people who can fold and sort clothes. Let's become the foster clot That was 2009 and since then every month we clothe about 100 to 150 foster families. We have a full-time 5,000 square foot boutique setting up in an office. Imagine we have an office When you come into Goodmans you get the books and toys and clothes and strollers and whatever else three-year-olds need. We've got all there. So it's been pus I'm not particularly passionate about conference tables and file cabinets but I am passionate about using what we have to make an impact.
