I've been looking around for a while, kind of looking at property and what's available and especially in the woodstock area where you're still able to buy a free standing house rather than an apartment for instance in the city. And it had to be something that was unrenovated and raw that we could buy and completely redo. It's also important to get a house that'still closer to the city so it'still that urban feel to it. It's a row house and the heritage features that the council is very adamant on is to keep the street facade the same. So you couldn't change the elevation of the roof or anything on the front facade. They wanted all the houses in the street to still be the same because it's over a hundred years old. From an attestual point of view from the front it's completely the same. You don't even see that we change it at all. The only two features that you might see is the two sunroofs that has been added into the loft space at the top. The filters light into the space, one inside the bedroom space and one inside the bathroom space. And it's located directly above the bar. So as you sit in the bar view actually at night you can see the stars of the roof. And when you stand inside the space you look out from out of the one sky that you see the table mountain and from the other one you can see light head. And then when you're at the top as you come up the staircase and through the window you clearly frame the level speed. So you see all the three main mountains just from one space almost. Because the house is so narrow and very long what immediately stood out is to have your movement space on the left hand side or on the one side and then you have to have all your service spaces on the other side of the house. And then that kind of created the idea of adding two black rectangular boxes almost for the whole length of the house. Yeah so we basically finished the whole project as the shell, So that was completely renovated and finished. And then I had an idea to collaborate with about nine or ten of Cape Town's top furniture designers and artists. And basically contacted everyone, said to them, guys listen this is what we want to do, the pictures of the house. We want to grab some of your products, put it in this space, furnish it as if it's a liveable house and a fully styled space. And everyone basically was on board but we had James March who does amazing timber products. So tables, chairs, benches. Then we had Cluftique which is actually a couch we're sitting on to beautiful leather products. Then we had a company called Beau Fritt which does beautiful, more Smith Gallery who represents a whole lot of artists. We had Veyland sun boards so they brought a whole bunch of homeware especially, decor items. We had Okai which is one of South Africa's top high-end furniture design brands. Then we also had Pedersen & Leonard which is a company based here in Woodstock. And we also had Casamento which is quite a feature product. So E from Casamento and the team does beautiful hand stitched work. So they do custom chairs, one-off pieces that would be completely styled. So you've got a chair back here called a Zulu chair that literally looks Emisa ceramics, yes. So Emisa was also represented and they sent two artists with their beautiful products. So also again It just kind of adds that pop of color or that quirky element into the space. It was purely just for us to shoot the house and then feature it in magazines, international blogs, design editions, all of that sort of media.
