Pre-loved Furniture, home decor, and more!
I don't know about you, but I do love to upscale. Best yet, I love going and peeking around the local thrift stores just to see some of the discarded furniture that people don't want anymore. And better yet, finding it for a great price. Well, I ran across this little beauty the other day and the price was definitely right. Also, I've been dying to try this new paint product. It's called mineral paint. There'several companies out there, but I'm using Fusion. I've never used it before. So let'see what it's all about by marrying the paint and this stand for this upscale project. So let's go ahead and clean up this little stand. So first we're going to have to remove the stickers. So with just a little alcohol and a cloth, just rub it across the stickers and with just a little swipe of the cloth, the stickers are gone. Now we will go ahead and take clean cloth to wipe off any dust, grime, or particles that might be on the stand. Next, crack open this paint and see what it's all about. I can't get the lid off. Oh no, Barry, I need you. I need your muscles to open this jar. Thanks, Barry. Thank goodness he was around. So let's go ahead and grab a brush and the paint and get started. So go ahead and dip your brush into the paint and wipe off excess to start. The paint does seem to glide right off of the brush. Now maybe I need to move back just a little bit here. Manufacturer'suggestions. They do suggest using a synthetic nylon brush and I must say I do love me a good brush. For this project, I'm just going to use this inexpensive synthetic nylon brush because it will be easy to clean up and if it gets too mucked up, just toss it away. So I Now in doing these stands, you see the little noose and you see legs. I don't know about you but I always get caught with a dried drip or cl So learn from my mistakes. Go slow and go easy. Don't be in a rush and go over the piece when you are done. As you can see, the paint is gliding right on but as I'm watching it dry, this first coat, I'm going to do a second coat. The manufacturer says that you should only have to do one coat but I think with this stained piece and then taking it to a light color, I think a second coat is going to be needed. The manufacturer said one coat is all that should be necessary but I'm going to be on the safe side and I'm going to do the second coat. So again, in doing your second coat, watch for those drips and cl Go slow and apply an even coat. Well there you have it. That was quick and easy and less than two hours. We have taken this little stand looking tired and worn to a fresh as a daisy with just a few coats of this mineral paint. I do In using the mineral paint, there isn't a need to apply a poly finish to this paint. It'supposed to be durable and you can use it as is. It does say that if you're using it in But this is supposed to be durable and wipeable and ready to go. So I am not going to apply any poly to this. But look at how cute with just a few simple accessories to dress this little stand up. You could make it a cute little plant stand, a night stand next to a bed, or just a simple exit piece in one of your living areas.
