Well, turning something old, new again. That's the idea behind a new downtown home furnishing store. Kate's Jordan Shefty is here now. And Jordan, tell us more about this business. Sounds kind of interesting. Right. Well, Mike, Mr. Diggs opened its stores in March. The owner of the store specializes in tracking down and restoring one-of-a-kind items. She finds unique pieces and puts her own touch on them. But for seven months that this shop has been open, most of the time, it's been closed. Mr. Diggs is a new quirky shop located in downtown Wichita. The space is filled with antique and refurbished items, all one-of-a-kind. People But most of the items in our store are a onesie. And knowing that you own that onesie always makes it more special. But tracking down those special items takes time and makes this open sign a rare sight. It's only up one weekend a month. The concept is being done in other markets, and we just decided to bring it to Wichita. But just because the store's not open doesn't mean work's not being done. Store creator Annette Schenkel and her employees do most of the refurbishing themselves. Plus, the extra time is necessary to find the unique and interesting items that our customers are looking for. People love to go to state sales, but they just don't have the time, or they But they want somebody to do the shopping form because they just, again, it's a time thing. So we're just trying to do that for them. The store features all types of styles from French country to industrial, with each month bringing a different theme. Well, of course, when the Olympics was on, we did a lot of the Paris theme upstairs. For back to school, for college students, we did a KU, K-State, and WSU. With repurposed antiques and funky finishes, your search for the perfect piece may be just a dig away. We try to do it all so that when you walk in the door, it's not just for one customer, it's for all customers. Mr. Diggs is open today and tomorrow, from nine in the morning to nine at night. The next time it will be open is the weekend of November 8th. Sounds They do. She definitely has an eye for design. It was a cool place to walk around. I think I'll be. . . Yes, one of those dressers in the piece I had in my bedroom as a little girl, and it used to be my mom's when she was a little girl, and we probably sold it in a garage sale for $10, and now it's antique.
