Live Edge Furniture

Here we have a beautiful 84 inch live edge dining table and we're going to install 12 inch matched grain company boards, also referred to as leaves, to additional table space. Start by reaching under the end of the table and pulling out the hidden apron. Then bring the company board to the table and carefully place under the extended apron. Here you'll see three table pins. These pins catch underneath the table top to ensure the leaf does not tip downward. Seen here are two wooden guide rails, one on each side, that will sit on top of the lower steel rails. These rails keep the board from shifting to the left or right. The steel stabilizer bar has been recessed into the wood to keep the board from warping. Warping will happen naturally if not addressed and this bar stops that from occurring. Once the board is in position, this latch along with one on the opposite side will be used to secure it. At this point we're going to lay the board down and line up the edges and back to the table top. Then reach under the board and gently push the apron back until it meets the wooden rails and stops. Now, with everything in place, simply reach under and close the latches on each side to lock the board in place. Repeat on the other end of the table and you're finished.
