I have received a bad sunburn today. I forgot my sunscreen. I am in El Calafate in Patagonia. This is not without reason one of the most visited Patagonians. The famous Perito Moreno Glacier is only one hour away and that's why I'm here. I'll show you a little El Calafate now and how you get to the glacier. In the city you can visit the art craft market, buy, find breweries and restaurants and admire the coffee sign on the hill. I was there on Christmas Eve. The sign was very festive. Our bus stays in the same place. If you want to have something from the national park, there is a souvenir shop in the water street. And if you meet animal, it's really useful to see a few Texas animals here. And they're always looking for food. Please don't feed them. Okay, that's not it. It took about an hour until we arrived at the entrance. If you arrive at the entrance and haven't bought a ticket yet, you can get out of the bus, go to the entrance building and pay. It costs 45,000 pesos. You can pay in bar, with credit card, debit card or per transfer. If you don't want that, you can also buy your ticket online. I'll link it down below. We have a short stop in front of the park's parking lot, which took about 10 minutes, just to look around the Perito Moreno Glacier from the distance. After paying, they get back in the shuttle bus and then drive for about 20 to 30 minutes until they reach the entrance near the Perito Moreno. If you want to take the boat ride, you will be put off at the entrance, where you can buy your ticket. 60,000 pesos. Grafias. It was crazy to get on my ticket. I didn't get the ticket in advance. That's why I wanted to do as much as possible. I personally think the boat ride was worth it. It was really great to be so close to it. The inside of the boat was pretty big. We definitely weren't full, which was good, because at the beginning everyone had to sit down and when we then get off the ship, you can get up and walk around. There is a ceiling and you can go up. When the boat ride was over, we got out of the boat, the shuttle took us off and set us off at the entrance. From there I decided to explore the different hiking paths on the way. Now I'm going the first roundway, that's the forest road, the best. M and that leads to the worst way. We make the lower roundway. Luckily I'm on this road alone, which is really nice. I had expected that more people are on the way, but they are probably all down on the glacier. When I look at the first view from the nearby harbour, I can see how ice blocks fall down. Over there we made the boat ride on this side. Exactly there, there is this rock, this big iceberg, which had a dark colour, as black as the sediment, which came up from the iceberg this morning. When you take a tour, you have at most four hours of the tour, around the time of the glacier to explore. So if you don't ride the boat, you have four hours to walk all the way. If you ride the boat, you have a little less than three hours. If you just walk all the way, you have enough time to make it in an hour. But of course you shouldn't just walk, you should also stop and enjoy the area. I would say you should plan for about one to one and a half hours for each way. The two main roads are the Siuto Inferiore or the Ura. And the Sindero de la Costa, the road along the coast. They lead almost in opposite directions. The lower road leads along the left side. The Sindero de la Costa or the coast leads along the right side of the glacier. Actually I wanted to go all the way, but unfortunately I didn't have time, because I met new friends and people again, who I had met in the last few days. So I met them and went a little slower. But it was worth it, because we had such a good company. It was a really great day. I think the best photo spot is up to here, where the Seondor Wollcon and the Sinder begin.
