I have received a bad sunburn today. I forgot my sunscreen. I am in El Calafate in Patagonia. This is not without reason one of the most visited Patagonians. The famous Perito Moreno Glacier is only one hour away and that's why I'm here. I'll show you a little El Calafate now and how you get to the glacier. In addition, I explain to you how it looks I flew to the El Calafate airport, which is only 25 minutes away from the city center. There is no Uber in El Calafate. So you either have to take an official taxi, a car rental or a ride with the VES shuttle book, which I have also done. I recommend you to reserve your place in advance. You can do that via WhatsApp. The n So you can contact them. You can find the switch and can check in directly after the walk with the rental car, after you have scanned your luggage. The ride into the city is wonderful and then you stop several stops in the city, so that you can choose which one is next. You tell the driver in advance. The city of El Calafate is really not so big. There is only one main street and a few side streets full of shops and restaurants. In the city you can visit the art craft market, buy, find breweries and restaurants and admire the coffee sign on the hill. I was there on Christmas Eve. The sign was very festive. In addition to the visit of the Petro Moreno Glacias, my favorite occupation was in El Calafate, the visit of the Glaciadi There is a free shuttle, which is currently running from the main tourist office in the city and brings you to the muse The ride there takes about 15 minutes and from there you have a really great view of the Lago Argentino. It'so beautiful. The muse The entrance cost about $ 10 extra, included a drink and was a really great experience. They gave us these parkas and gloves and were able to hang out in this ice cold room with our drink and the Christmas man. It's almost 10 o'clock in the morning and I'm going to meet at the meeting point, where I'm going to pick up the group for the Perito Moreno. Here it is, that's the place. So you can take a bus from the main bus station to the Pito Moreno Glacias and take it back. That costs at least 50,000 pesos, stood December 2024. I chose a tour that I booked with Get Your Guide. It cost $ 65, but it's basically a transport from door to door. That's almost the same as the corner of my Airbnb. After waiting for me for 30 minutes until I was taken off my shuttle, I got in and then we drove through the city, brought other people from their locations and then made our way to the Perito Moreno. Our bus stays in the same place. If you want to have something from the national park, there is a souvenir shop in the water street. And if you meet animal, it's really useful to see a few Texas animals here. And they're always looking for food. Please don't feed them. Okay, that's not it. It took about an hour until we arrived at the entrance. If you arrive at the entrance and haven't bought a ticket yet, you can get out of the bus, go to the entrance building and pay. It costs 45,000 pesos. You can pay in bar, with credit card, debit card or per transfer. If you don't want that, you can also buy your ticket online. I'll link it down below. So you can just click on the link and buy it online. We have a short stop in front of the park's parking lot, which took about 10 minutes, just to look around the Perito Moreno Glacier from the distance. After paying, they get back in the shuttle bus and then drive for about 20 to 30 minutes until they reach the entrance near the Perito Moreno. If you want to take the boat ride, you will be put off at the entrance, where you can buy your ticket. 60,000 pesos. Grafias. It was crazy to get on my ticket. I didn't get the ticket in advance. Everyone is on the same page at the same time. And everyone thinks he's more important and tries to get through before you. That's really stressful. Now I'm the last one to get a ticket. I'm not sure if I'm really at the right place, but I have to hurry. Okay, I did it. But I have to. I hope there's a bathroom on board. I did it. If you don't want to take part in the Nautical Boat ride, stay in the shuttle and just drive to the entrance. I wanted to use the opportunity. I'll probably never get back here again. That's why I wanted to do as much as possible. I personally think the boat ride was worth it. It was really great to be so close to it. The inside of the boat was pretty big. We definitely weren't full, which was good, because at the beginning everyone had to sit down and when we then get off the ship, you can get up and walk around. There is a ceiling and you can go up. I recommend going up right away, because it came up to me as if people needed a while to find out that there is a ceiling. So if you go up very quickly, you can probably make really good recordings without that many people are there. I'm so glad that I did the boat ride, because I didn't just meet super cool people and new friendships, but it was just wonderful. It was totally quiet out there on the water, all by myself. When the boat ride was over, we got out of the boat, the shuttle took us off and set us off at the entrance. From there I decided to explore the different hiking paths on the way. Now I'm going the first roundway, that's the forest road, the best. M and that leads to the worst way. We make the lower roundway. Luckily I'm on this road alone, which is really nice. I had expected that more people are on the way, but they are probably all down on the glacier. When I look at the first view from the nearby harbour, I can see how ice blocks fall down. Over there we made the boat ride on this side. Exactly there, there is this rock, this big iceberg, which had a dark colour, as black as the sediment, which came up from the iceberg this morning. When you take a tour, you have at most four hours of the tour, around the time of the glacier to explore. So if you don't ride the boat, you have four hours to walk all the way. If you ride the boat, you have a little less than three hours. If you just walk all the way, you have enough time to make it in an hour. But of course you shouldn't just walk, you should also stop and enjoy the area. I would say you should plan for about one to one and a half hours for each way. The two main roads are the Siuto Inferiore or the Ura. And the Sindero de la Costa, the road along the coast. They lead almost in opposite directions. The lower road leads along the left side. The Sindero de la Costa or the coast leads along the right side of the glacier. Actually I wanted to go all the way, but unfortunately I didn't have time, because I met new friends and people again, who I had met in the last few days. So I met them and went a little slower. But it was worth it, because we had such a good company. It was a really great day. I think the best photo spot is up to here, where the Seondor Wollcon and the Sinder begin. That's the best place to take photos. You can see everything. About 30 minutes before the departure time, I was getting ready to go to the beach. I was so excited. I was so excited. About 30 minutes before the departure time, I was getting on the way back to the small restaurant area, to get in the shuttle bus and meet my group again. The entrance costs $ 45 each, Both have several round paths or paths that lead to different directions through the park to see the main attractions. Besides, both are full of Brazilians. There were also many Brazilians on the Perito Moreno Glacier, just If you have time, you should visit all the paths. Because even though you see the same thing, everyone offers a different, unique perspective and they are simply fantastic. Today I had a great day. I love El Calafat and I loved it, visiting the Perito Moreno. And if you want to see how other national parks in Argentina look, just click on this video here, in which you can see how the Iasi Waterfalls look.
