Hi, my name is Lana Whiting and the impact that the Y has had on my life is a social one, physical one. I started coming to the Y as a member years ago and just decided to j It's fun to be in a team. I personally have always been active. As an employee, I see people come in who haven't done, haven't been active or have been active in a long time. I give tours as an employee and one thing I say to people, I always say don't, don't measure yourself against someone else in a class. You go and listen to an instructor and do your best and that as time goes by, if you I have many memorable moments. I've had a couple of differences. A negative one I had is someone calling me out saying that I was targeting them because as an employee in the wellness center with the equipment, there are guidelines and age requirements and things For the most part, people are so appreciative of what I do here as an employee and they say that to me and I feel so grateful that hey Lana, I think that I see people and I hear people and listen and I think just saying hello and that's the most important job that I do here is that I may not get my chores done or the list but if I am having great conversations with people, checking in on them, that's the most important thing and I get that every time I'm here. I would say give it a try that you don't have to come every day. Again, I'm just going back to the class thing, just not measuring yourself against other people is that giving things a try and it is hard. It is hard if you haven't been active or been part of an environment I think people feel judged a lot and honestly when you come in, people are worried about what they're doing. They don't care about what you're doing most of the time, especially with the weights and cardio. But I would say please just give it a try and I think that you'll find a wonderful benefit socially and physically and mentally because all of that is a package that we all need.
