The Farmhouse Key specializes in restoring antique, vintage, worn or discarded furniture with hand-painted and faux finishes to live another day. As an artist and retired art educator I just can not put down my paint brush. I have been restoring furniture since I was a teenager. I remember vividly a handcrafted desk my father had made when he was younger and was in dire need of repair and refinishing. I saw it sitting in the garage and asked my father to teach me how to refinish it use to use in my room to create my art on. I will never forget the satisfaction I felt by bringing this special family piece back to life. The desk was a large substantial piece and took hours of work. This love of wood and finishes has allowed me to have items in my home that a struggling artist, and young person wouldn't have been able to afford. Now I am retired and I have time to bring this talent to others. I love learning new techniques and will tackle repairs that would have intimidated me in the past.
