RVAupcycle

We like to take furniture that people cast aside and turn them into beautiful pieces that will complete someone's living room, bedroom, etc. Based in RVA.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Hello, my name is Dolores and I'm with the RVA Upcycle Group and I wanted to give you a quick recap on what we have done so far and what's coming up next. First off, everything that we have done is listed in the letter of introductions. There's links to everything that we have talked about. The first link is a link to a doc It's a very good doc The first video was a meeting greet that we held back in August and the other two videos are of a tour that we made of the remade upcycle store in Anchorage, Alaska. One video is the full unedited version and the other one is a short 12-minute version. Take a look at that. It's a really cool store. I mean, I wish it is my dream that we can have a remade store in Richmond because it is a really cool upcycle store. If I lived in Anchorage, that would definitely be my go-to store and it would just be great. I think it would be great if we could have a store So that's the goal of the group is to get this store created. It is a non-profit store and it does require a group of volunteers. It requires a board. So there's a lot of setup that is required. It also requires a lot of fundraising. So we're on our first fundraising. We're on our first phase of fundraising, phase one, which is the letter of intent and it gives us the permission to use the remade name in all of our volunteer efforts and also the fundraising efforts. So right now, I created a GoFundMe page. I'm looking at my phone. I'm trying to go to that link. So right now, we're on phase one. GoFundMe, we have currently $300 and we have $700 more. So when I started this group, there were no members. Now we have either 80 or 90 people who have joined the group through next door. And if everyone donated about $10 to $20, we would definitely have the remaining money required for this phase of funding. Another fundraising effort that I created was merchandise. So I happen to have one of the shirts that I made. The merchandise site is on redbubble. com and I created five different shirts. Now I just call them design one through five. The design that I'm wearing is design five, which is the purple shirt. It comes in other colors as well. And the design that I purchased was called the graphic t-shirt. It's really cool. So I've used a red bubble for a while for my personal things, but I never ordered this graphic tee and I really do So anyone who purchases merchandise from the redbubble site, 25% of the cost of the item, whatever you purchase, will go to the phase one fundraiser. So I'm going to keep track. I don't, no one has purchased any items from the redbubble store yet. So what I will do as people start to make purchases at redbubble and also make donations on GoFundMe, I will give a weekly status of what is happening. So right now we have $300 that has been donated on the GoFundMe site. That's it for the fundraising efforts. One of the things, since we don't know each other, this is a new group and we're in the middle of COVID, so we can't do a lot of actual social networking. I was trying to think of some ways that we could share our upcycling activities and interests remotely. So you can always post, if you have anything that you're interested in or that you're working on, you can always post that information in the RVA Upcycle group. Some people have or they mentioned some things, but then they didn't continue with it, but you can, if you have an interest or if you're working on something and you want to share that information, feel free to make a post in the RVA Upcycle group. Also, I have created a Pinterest page, an RVA Upcycle Pinterest page, and I've linked my upcycle boards to that page. Now, if you would All you have to do is open that individual board and click on the plus sign, and then you want to invite RVA Upcycle. Okay, so this is the RVA Upcycle page on Pinterest, and it already has some boards that I've either created specifically for the group or for that group or I've linked my personal pages. So one of the pages that I created was the Sustainability page, and I've also created an RVA Upcycle group page, which basically links to the YouTube videos. And then everything that starts with an RE, those are my personal pages that I've shared with the group. RE stands for Restainability. I'm sorry, Repurpose. Sorry, Restainability. That's not even worth it. RE stands for Repurpose. So I've got a re-craft, a repurposed craft, reuse, recycle, RE furniture, RE copper and metal, RE home decor, and RE statement necklaces. So it's real easy to share your pages with the group. All you have to do is contact RVA Upcycle, which is me, and offer to share your page with the group, and then everyone in the group can see your pages. Okay, if anybody has any other ideas where we could begin to communicate with each other regarding recycling or sustainability or reuse, feel free to do so. Oh, I forgot to mention about the red bubble. If you have a design that you would And so Christmas is coming. It doesn't have to be your art. It doesn't have to be just words You can use art. Christmas is coming. You may have some interest in creating something that can be used for Christmas presents. And you can provide the art. Your kids can provide the art. It's up to you. So that's the last thing I wanted to discuss, other than Google Groups. So I mentioned in an earlier meeting that Google Groups, that the next door page may or may not be sufficient when we're trying to communicate with the metropolitan enrichment area. The next door is a neighborhood social media application. And the neighborhood for RVA may extend beyond a typical neighborhood. So I know it does include all of Richmond. My next door group includes all of Richmond and some of the outer suburbs of Richmond. I know it has short p And so it does go out to the counties, but I don't know how far out into the counties it will go. It's possible that we may want to communicate with people from all of Henrico County. It depends on where we're going to go. But if we need to communicate with people who are outside of the next door jurisdiction, that may cause problems in the future. So what I've done is I've created a Google Groups. Right now, it only has one doc But what I will do, at least at first, what I'll do is I'll start every major doc I'll also put it in Google Groups. And sometime in the future, we may migrate completely over to Google Groups. For right now, everybody started out on next door. So I know everyone has this information. So we're going to stay on next door for the foreseeable future. So the last thing is since more people, the first meeting meet and greet that we had was only 30 people. So the group has tripled in size since then. So I think we should do another meet and greet. What I'm going to do is send out an invite later on this week and the meet and greet will be sometime next week. And this is going to be another Zoom meeting that you can attend either, you can either attend live or if you're not able to attend the live meeting, you can watch it later because it will be recorded. That's all the information that I have today. So this was a brief meeting. So basically it's just to, Okay. Thank you. Have a great day. Goodbye.
