Jewell Hardwoods

Live Edge Slabs & Gorgeous Custom Furniture made from NW Salvaged trees that we mill & carefully dry. See our website contact page for directions and hours

With a passion for woodworking and a background in heavy construction we got tired of seeing beautiful hardwood logs sent to the landfill. That is when we began milling and drying lumber and slabs for our own woodworking projects. Jewell Hardwoods has over 100,000 board feet of Slabs currently air-drying and a showroom filled with Kiln Dried Slab Inventory. We are a national supplier of high quality hardwoods. Producing high quality slabs is more than what we do, it is our passion. We love seeing logs that may have been cut into firewood turned into beautiful sustainable slabs. All the material we produce is held to the same standards we demand for our own projects. Live out of the state? No problem, we can ship anywhere! We sell all over the country. What makes Jewel Hardwood's unique is the fact that we've taken a very fine furniture approach to a solid wood construction. And it actually all started years ago just after my first son was born and I built a crib for And so that started t So Clackamas County just was a no-brainer location for us. Another wood that we use a lot of is maple. We have a lot of spalted maple. Spalting is these amazing colored black lines that are created by two different bacterias. They'll travel together towards each other to have an epic battle and then kill each other off. It creates centered piece and conversational pieces wit Here in the Northwest we have big trees and we've really capitalized on that here at Jewel Hardwoods. We have a lot it's over 30,000 pounds right now. We recently modified our sawmill in order to be able to cut up to nine feet wide. So a live edge table is where we take the outside of the tree and that becomes the outside edge to your table. We leave the natural cut of the wood versus making a square table. With our bridges and rivers collection we've been able to combine the best of two different worlds where we turn the live edge to the inside of the table and then we do a glass work down the center and allows you to have a very functional straight edge table combined with that beautiful live edge but it's turned to the inside of the table. At Jewel Hardwoods we get calls from the local arborists when they have a tree that needs to be reclaimed or taken down. We'll take that tree, have them harvest it and bring it here to our facility, mill it, take two and a half years to dry that tree. A piece of wood that's not dried properly once you cut into it or you move it to a different temperature climate or house it can actually curl and potato c After that two-year drying process is done we're able to bring it into the shop and flatten it. It takes an entire team to be able to create these incredible pieces of art. Our lead artisan Josh Daly comes from a guitar building background where the tolerance is in building guitars is so critical and he takes that same exact precision as he's building these beautiful one-of-a-kind craftsman custom tables. Our goal with Jewel Hardwoods is to not get stuck in a rut but to keep innovating, keep pus Each piece is created as a special heirloom for a family for generations to come.
