Mother-daughter duo, Amanda and Karla, love shopping at vintage markets and estate sales. Their interests in home décor and design lead them to watch The Nate Berkus show, where Miss Mustard Seed and Shaunna West from Perfectly Imperfect where featured on his show in 2011; they demonstrated how to refinish furniture using specialty paint. Amanda and Karla got inspired and immediately started a project of painting a dresser for Karla's bedroom. That first project instilled a can-do attitude in the duo and since that day, they've been dreaming about their own creative business. Refinishing vintage furniture and home decor seemed like the perfect way for them to showcase their creative talents; Vintage Hip Decor was established in March of 2012. The rest is history... things snowballed from there and they gained popularity with an instant audience of followers that loved their work. Originally from South Africa, Amanda, husband, Bennie, and their young children relocated to the U.S. in 1998; Amanda would spend the next several years at home, raising children. Starting this business and working from home was a wonderful and stimulating outlet for Amanda's creative side. Becoming business partners with Karla happened very naturally and there was no doubt in Karla's mind that this is what she wanted to do when graduating high school and college. Karla has a business degree and is a strong project manager. All their talents were put to work and they have many more dreams of growing the business.
