I am welcome to Ben's Furniture. We're located at 166th St. in downtown Newport. My name is David Belusky and my grandfather started this business back in 1942. And to put that into a little bit of perspective, that was when Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president in the White House and H The world has certainly changed a lot and a lot of years have gone by and quite a few businesses have come and gone. But Ben's Furniture is still here and that'something that we're very proud of. We have a terrific display of bedroom sets and dinette sets as well as TV and media stands and bookcases and desks and actually one of the largest selections of coastal and cottage accessories around. We choose what we display very carefully and try to offer the very best value and comfort and selection at every given price point. Just about everyone who comes in for the first time is amazed at how large the store actually is. It's very deceiving from the front and when they come in they're usually very pleasantly surprised. We have about 18,000 square feet in three floors of showroom space. It's a lot bigger than the original location but not too big to be intimidating. We hope that shopping here will be an incredibly different experience than shopping at any other furniture store. We know that you don't want to be followed around and we know that you don't want to be pressured so we don't do either. Our sales staff is not on commission so all we really want to do is help you find the perfect piece of furniture for your home. I wish we had kept count of how many mattresses we've sold over the past 69 years because I'm sure it would be staggering. We display approximately 20 different models of beds from manufacturers What we will not do is what a lot of the sleep shops do and other retailers and that is to raise our prices just to be able to screen one week that is 50% off or give you a free box spring the next week. We simply won't do that. We don't feel it's an honest way of doing business and we won't subject our customers to do it. One of the most rewarding aspects about being part of the community for this long and being in business for as many years as we have is when customers come in and reminisce about how they bought their first living room set or dining room set for my grandfather or for my mother or father so many years ago. They tell stories of either how the piece has been passed down from generation to generation or how when they're children it was time for them to buy their first piece of furniture they would bring them into bends. And we also have adults who come in and tell us how they remember coming in with their parents or grandparents shopping and getting a lollipop and every time they walked on the floor it would squeak. The floor still squeaks and we still have lollipops.
