Hello, I'm Betsy Blancett, the Senior Product Developer for Wood Categories at our house. Our product development team travels around the world, seeking out unique handcrafted home furnishings from local artists and craftsmen in over 10 countries. We scavenge European antique stores, Indonesian antique malls, and various warehouses looking for that one item, that one diamond in a rough, that'sure to be the next our house iconic collection. One collection that is synonymous with our house is our Copper Arabest collection. Years and years ago, were shopping at a local street vendor in a small town called Tlacopaki, Mexico, when we happened upon this beautiful copper bowl. Were so inspired by the colors and the textures in that bowl that we decided to make an entire series of tabletops to go along with it. And so the Copper Arabest collection was born. Each of these copper tabletops is hand constructed in a remote village of Mexico known for using interesting textures and materials to create unique works of art. The top of each table takes over three days to produce. It starts out with a 100% recycled sheet of copper that's about the color of a brand new penny. The artists and craftsmen then take that recycled sheet of copper and they wave it over an open flame completely charring the surface to a near black finish. From there, they take the copper tabletop and they dip it in an acid bath, which gives it the wonderful unique combination of colors that you see on the tabletop today. The tabletop is then wrapped over the solid wood substrate and the craftsmen hand pounds each tabletop over 3,000 times to create that wonderful, rippled texture that you see on the copper tabletops. You can be sure when you buy a copper tabletop at our house that yours is truly a one of a kind because no two are a To complete the process, the craftsmen then hand stamps on the perimeter of each table a Monarch butterfly. The Monarch butterfly is a symbol of that small remote village in northern Mexico where the Monarch butterfly is actually migrate every season to that temperate climate. I love actually going into a store and running my hand along the perimeter of each tabletop until I catch that wonderful Monarch butterfly stamp. It's just a really unique conversation piece. Our Cabrillo copper sideboard was the first piece of furniture that I bought when I started with our house. And it continues to be the statement piece in my home and a wonderful conversation piece at every dinner party. Whether you're building a rustic retreat or you'renovating an urban loft, our copper collection is a wonderful addition to any home. Copper collection is a wonderful addition to any home.
