Hello, my name is Jane. Today I'm gonna take you with me for a really fun engineering activity. Are you ready? So for today the teacher asked us to create a paper bridge that could hold two pencils. I got a flat paper and I put it on top of the books and then I got two pencils and I put them all on top of the paper. But do you t Excellent, it's not a good bridge. Why? Because the paper is barely holding the pencils. It's falling down so I have a problem. The first design was weaker because the paper was flat so the structure of the paper wasn't able to hold a lot of pencils. So maybe if I fold the paper the structure will become stronger and it would hold more pencils. Let's try it out. It worked! It had the pencils without falling down. So does a problem have only one solution? No, a problem can have many solutions. So how should I know w I have to compare the different designs to check w So how can you compare the design solutions?
