But for this one hometown business owner, he says it's time to close the shop and start his new adventure. At the corner of North Franklin Place in East Brady Street sits an institution of futons. We've been here, Kurt Bauer is the owner of Brady Street futons, the small shop sitting on a legendary street. Bauer took over the business back in the late 90s. Now he says it's time to move on to his next chapter. Well, I just turned 60 and I don't want to be closing up a shop at 70. Bauer's love for creating led up to his next endeavor in the furniture making art space. Doing upholstery and I make art pieces out of chairs and I'm just going to be concentrating on that. Over the years, Bauer says he's built relationships which will last a lifetime. Have a good one. Thank you for stopping by and watching your step. All of our customers we've had have been a treasure. We just wouldn't have been here without them. The Nink storefront has won awards Brady Street neighborhood has been a treasure for me. My neighbors here, they've just been great. I'll definitely miss this neighborhood. Bauer plans on closing up shop at the end of March, making a staple decades in the making. It's bittersweet. I'm going to miss this place. I'm going to miss Brady Street, but I am excited for the future. Very excited.
